Help Phone Contacts Problem (X8)

Hello!
I have a problem with my contacts... first of all, i've had 1.6 on my xperia X8, am i've made a full backup before I've installed the update for 2.1. All went well, but when I've tried to restore my back-up, the contact agenda didin't appear!!! Going more weird, when someone in my old agenda calls me, it appears like i have him in the contact list, but i don't manage to see him!! What should be the problem, and what should I do to solve it?

I had the same problem and I fixed it. Don't remeber how . Did you make a backup on google or SE? Maybe try restoring from there.

Or just play with the options. After you enter Agenda, press menu key and first option (Pers. de contact de vizualizat). Then just check all options and see what happens

Check what contacts you have displayed in contacts settings - it maybe set to google only - not seeing the contacts saved to your phone memory.

Tip for anyone - Ive always set my contacts to google - whenver you upgrade, master reset, or buy new android phone - login to your google account and hey presto all your contacts appear

You should have used a Sync Service (Google or SE) or the phone s BackUp application...

Similar happened to me, I had multiple numbers for same contact. I had to remove everything manually. My sim contacts were on sim but wouldn't show. So after removing everything, I synced my phonebook with google acc (I didn't know even that I have all contacts stored there)

@Charmed: for that there's a simple solution. Go to Menu>Sync and there you have all your sync accounts. If you delete the SE account (that's what I did brcause it wasn't working anymore) then your contact numbers won't be doubled anymore. Stupid SE!

I didn't sync with SE acc at all! That was the problem. I thought that deliting google acc would sort the problem, but google acc can't be erased...

for double contacts in 2.1 you've option to choose which contacts to show and hide..

contacts->press menu key -> contacts to view

and see which you want

I didn't sync SE either .. BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK. But still, it doubled my contact no's. And the option suhel is talking about is cra*p since it doesn't do what it's supposed to. Even if I uncheck SE it still doubles. I had to erase the SE account and it worked for me.

you just have to untick the correct options if you want to make it work.. if done correctly it will surely work.. just need to play around a bit

I DID. That's why I'm so annoyed with this sollution. Did you have a SE AND a google account for contacts? The options there only work for contacts, not for contacts no's.

chill man.. now we have the export contacts to memory card option in 2.1..

and why you ppl don't use sim memory to store contacts it always work ...

1. I have more than 200 contacts
2. most contacts have at least 2 phone no's and e-mail.

did you check your google contacts??

I mean somethings backing up duplicates contacts in google too

go to Google Contacts

and there would be option to FIND&MERGE duplicate entries

If you open any contact, you'll see that there are 2 sections (talking about my case), one is "something sync" and the other is "google account sync" or something like that. They both contain the exact same thing, so everything is doubled.

If you would please read the treads above (this time pay more attention), you'll see that the problem for Charmed is not duplicate contacts, but duplicate contact no's. The seetings you were talking about only changes WHICH CONTACTS to display, not which contact info. Trust me, I've played with those settings but to no use. And I'm very pacient when it comes to my phone's settings.

Hello all!
First sorry for my english, I'm French.

I get a X8 too, 2.1 updated.
I used sync to get my FB contacts, but I would like to keep differents pseudonyms for my contacts. To be clearest, for my sister, I use "sista" and even if she is sync with FB, my X8 display sista. On the other side, my brother or my girlfriend, also on FB, keep their real name on my X8. I've tried to stop displaying FB contacts (I just keep my telephone contacts). But no issue...I don't understand why it's different for my sister and for my brother or girlfriend...

check first if you are viewing "all contacts" not just google contacts or facebook contacts. hope that helps

accidentally i m lucky person my father sync. my contact with google so got all contact are safe more then 1239 contacts thanks to google.
