Samsung confirms gingerbread for galaxy s models

I don't like how they don't cite their source, as in a link. I'd rather read the actual twitter and surmise for myself what samsung meant. Even if they explicitly stated all galaxy s makes and models for all countries, I would not believe it unless samsung U.S. said it. Even a statement like "All galaxy S phones will receive 2.3" is not clear enough, it could just be referring to the international version.

That's exactly why I asked my question. ;)

I agree, no reputable sources stated in the article, thus it leads me to believe it is going off the basis of that premature tweet from Samsung India. As of yesterday, Samsung has still not said anything about gingerbread being released. Although I do hope that gingerbread does come out for the captivate, the title of this thread is quite misleading.

I'm betting gingerbread isn't released for galaxy s phones until early fall 2011. By then android 3.5 will be out. Honeycomb will probably be out by Q1 or Q2 2011.

Our phones won't exactly be obsolete. We can get upgrades after 20 months correct? For me that would mean I could get an upgrade at about April 2012 so i would probably get about 6 months out of gingerbread.

I think the exact opposite I'm betting froyo gets skipped and within the next two months all galaxy S get gingerbread just like the nexus S
