Rumors of gingerbread men dancing in my head...

Just copy and paste it. Simple enough.

Sort of required if you want your thread here to have any credibility, otherwise people are just going to ignore this as more unsubstantiated rumor... which this forum gets spammed with so much already that we just tune it out.

I don't really care if you or anyone else gives this thread any credibility. I've already said I don't know how reliable the rumor is. I've also given you the tools to find the source. Do what you wish with the rumor.

As for me, I am cautiously optimistic.

I Hate to say it but I am 99.9% sure this WONT happen.

Here's why. There are at least one (and in most cases 2+) "leaked" foyo ROMs for each othe the US Galaxy S phones. Which leads me to beleive they are working on developing Froyo ROMs for the US Galaxy phones, and not Gingerbread.

Also, a few recent articles on Giz and engadget and a few others have posted "conversations" with various Samsung "powers" and it doesnt look likely that the current Galaxy line will EVER get Gingerbread AT ALL.

If the past is any indication, Samsung will eventually pop Froyo for the SGS line to quiet the masses (sort of). But will leave it at that and move on to the "bigger, better, and newer" and leave the current SGS line in the dust. Id love to be wrong for all you guys sake... but the chances are (at least IMHO) that;

- US SGS will get froyo (prolly in Jan) and never get Gingerbread.
- The GPS will never function propperly 100% of the time for most folks
- A few of the main features of froyo will be gimped by AT&T/Sammy

But for your sake, my friends I hope I am wrong, or atleast someone will come up with a really good custom ROM that will make this phone function (mostly) as it should have in the first place, bring the functionallity that AT&T gimps, and fix the shitty job Samsung did with the software integration.

There are some good ones out there now, even without a NON beta Froyo and w/o the source code, once those are final, I bet they will be damn good.

I agree with you 100%. I really get the feeling that Samsung doesn't care much about supporting released products as they seem to focus most all of their resources to launch new ones. They released a white Galaxy S... how about fixing the issues with the first Galaxy S before you go about releasing new versions of it?

^^^ I agree. Thats why I gave up on waiting for official release for anything and went to custom roms. Atleast now i can enjoy Froyo and may be gingerbread too.

Samsung is too busy in competeing with Apple...so they might come with SGS 2 soon with gingerbread. The current SGS looks going down in trash.

Its not ATT also, Dell streak ins going to get 2.2 by end of this Dec (dont remember the date but its officially announced). I am sure its just Samsung some wierd strategy.

I wont wait for official anything now.....I am so glad to find XDA and so thankful to thos developers...or I will be one frustrated man

Yeah, this is my first Android phone and the community support is awesome. I REALLY like what the devs have done to my phone :) My only concern is that I feel that the GPS will never work. I don't think it's a coincidence that they've changed the GPS antenna in the Nexus S.

Face it, we won't get an upgrade. Just keep your hopes down. And if AT&T actually does release, be a nice surprise....

Maybe they will skip Froyo and Gingerbread and give us Ice cream....(Seeing how Honeycomb is for tabs I believe) it is all annoying now. Still love my phone though!!!

Oh we won't be getting ice cream if anyone took me serious

I love the phone too! For me, it would be the perfect phone if the GPS worked.

I've flashed assonance now, with the default kernel, and my GPS is actually worse. It was perfect before. I don't really use my gps for turn-by-turn navigation though, just for addresses and places near by.
