Root CyanogenMod 6.0

Ever since getting my Aria, I couldn't help but be impatient in waiting for 2.2. But of course, I figured they'd probably never come out with it for a looong time, though I was always daunted by the thought of rooting - especially since it seemed so annoyingly tedious.

But today I checked back up on xda-developers and ended up rooting my Aria and installing CyanogenMod 6.0 in just a matter of minutes, thanks to the Ubuntu LiveCD method :)

So I was wondering, has anyone else on here rooted and/or installed CM6, or any other ROM for that matter?

So far, I haven't really done much except for switched to LauncherPro, since the default ADW was actually disappointingly slow. Other than that, I'm very impressed with CM6. My main concern is hoping that battery life will be much improved over the dumb excuse for "battery life" that the original Aria ROM gave me.

I rooted and installed CM6 on my Aria, but I use Liberated ROM as my main one. I haven't used it much, but in the times I've played around with CM6, I've really liked it, and I'm sure battery life will be better without all the auto-updating widgets of Sense. I haven't tried it for an extended period yet (I haven't had time to completely set it up, and I there are certain aspects of Sense I don't want to go without), but I may try it for a full day or two this week. If I do, I'll let you know how it works for me.

Bumpity

Just installed 6.0.2 last night but ran into a problem almost immediately and I found a thread and posted about it on the XDA forums, I've been getting "download unsuccessful" when going to the Market and attempting to download an app over wifi but when I turned off wifi and switched to 3G it worked (but slow) and switched back to wifi and it occured again. I also get "forbidden" when I attempt to surf the web, how strange.

I found solutions to fix this but none of them worked. I restored back to my previous rom thanks to nandroid and all is fine again. Shame because I really really like the setup of CM6 (minus the ADW), I hope their 6.1 will come very shortly, I would go back to OpenDesire but I can't keep up with the constant updating with that.

HM just realized this isn't the HTC Desire section... :|

I've been running CM 6.0.2.1 for 3 weeks now. Last week I downloaded the 9/29 nightly build that fixed Bluetooth voice command and I have been very pleased with the performance. For the features I used and how I used the phone it has been rock solid.

I usually leave both Wifi and BT on at both home and at work. I have email configured for push mode from our company's Exchange server as well as pulling from Hotmail. I love the combined Inbox feature and I also have Gmail in push mode, too. I use both Facebook and XDA app on a regular bases all day and evening and I usually have about 50% battery left at bed time.

All in all I don't think I'll go back to HTC Sense 2.2 even if AT&T does finally release it one of these days.

Regards,

Tom

I've been wanting to try either liberated or CM6, but i'm not a fan of all the issues people are having with wifi, blue tooth, gps, camera, radio etc.

I run the stock rom, and everything just works - so i can't complain too much.

I am however not a fan of the Android Market issues with the latest update from HTC.

Yeah a bunch of people said that, but they don't even use many features of the phone - and then others still reported issues.
Do you use Bluetooth, Wifi, and Exchange Active Sync?

Those are probably the most critical.
Plus i like the Google Aps, as well as the Sense Widgets like News.

I used it for a few days already the there is no issue. So far, the only thing I noticed missing are the Notepad widget. I copy the wifi file over so it connects to all my existing wifi hot spots. Bluetooth I have to resync and I works without issue. I can sync with google and I don't use Exchange Active Sync. I also have to re-install all my apps. I wished there is a way or may be there is and I don't know it.

You can back up your existing and give it a try. You can always go back to your backup. It's only take about 10 minutes to restore.

Love CM6. The only problem I have is my USB. When I connect to my computer is does not recognize my Aria. Use Liberated with no problems. Any suggestions? Prefer CM6.

I'm currently running CM6.1.

Go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Development.

Check to see that USB debugging is NOT ticked, and connect the phone to your computer via USB. It should show up as a removable disk. What operating system are you running?

Can someone help me out with this I just flashed not even ten minutes ago and I can't get my data to work which in turn doesn't let me send/receive pic messages. So I'm paying for data I can't even use with this ROM, I can use wifi though. Also the rom put me in roaming mode for some reason and it wont come off. I am on AT&T if that is of any use. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

Did you have any luck redownloading and reflashing CM 6.1?
