PingChat! FOR ANDROID! (BBM-ish app)

Time to bump this topic a bit. And with a few ideas that is:

- Allow a function for people to insert their number. The app will then search for people in your address book who also have PingChat. Without forcing them to be findable.

- Allow for blocking a certain person. Cause right now if someone gets your PingID and starts spamming ya, you're doomed.

- An option to hide the contacts on your phone in the contacts list. Showing only PingChat contacts.

- Oh and finally ofcourse drop-in groupchat. So anyone can join a group at anytime. Instead of making a new one.

Okay.... I had Pingchat working great on the SGS and when I picked up my Tab I dropped the SIM from the SGS into the Tab and tried Pingchat.....
Nothing, found out it needs to register. Trouble is you can't because the number is already registered.

Next step go back to the SGS, un-register and uninstall (not ideal because I still want to use Pingchat on both the SGS & Tab).

With Pingchat un-registered on the SGS back to the Tab, re-install and try again to register...... Guess what ~ Your number is already registered.

So....
1. Is there any way to get this to work using the same SIM on two phones?
2. How can you register a new phone bearing in mind I've already un-registered on the SGS?

How can i keep every message sent to me from popping up in the bar on top and then being readable in the notification area. I only want to see the messages when I open the program. i dont want whoever is holding my phone to see all my messages just pop right up for them to read. I'm finding this a very annoying android drawback.

Simple answer is you can't.
And it's no sense in emailing support, I have seen many users requesting info.... they do not reply to anyone's requests.

Surprised this thread seems to have died so let me try to wake it up again!

Love the App, but I have 2 Issues:

1. Definitely keeping my phone awake
2. It repeatedly tells me that I have buddy updates (which I believe is the bug causing it to keep the phone awake)

Of the friends I have using ping chat, some of them are experiencing this same behavior and some aren't!

We are all on Android by the way!

I have a quick question as well. I've linked my buddies to my address book and i see their pic when i'm inside of a chat. However in the list of open chats, i don't get any pictures for the different chat threads, just the default silhouette.

Anyone else seeing this?

I get the same behavior. Other than that tho, the app works great.

I found out that if your buddy sets a picture under their profile, then contact pics start showing up on the message thread view. Seems like a bug that needs to be fixed.

Also, is this app still being worked on or updated? I don't see any activity on their website or any updates to the app in a long time. I remember they were mentioning a free ad supported version and a paid version a while back.

One question, does PingChat! use data (3g and wifi) or how exactly does it work? Does pingchat use SMS and MMS from my phone to their servers, and then route the data to all recipients? Or does it send messages through an online stream? Just wondering because my data add-on isn't extremely substantial in this regard.
