Help Delete Epic 4G Native (OEM) Email Client?

Had my Epic since the day it was released and still using (LOVE IT!). Anyway, been trying to improve battery life, running ATK.
CANNOT STOP NATIVE EMAIL CLIENT FROM RESTARTING AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY! (I use MailDroid for all email accounts (LOVE THAT 2!))

Anyone know how to delete the native apps from the Epic simply???

U have to be rooted; Titatium backup will allow that; I don't delete the apps, I jus freeze them so its like they aren't there, but only rooted phones can do this...

I'm not sure which steps u mean (root or freezing)

Titanium Backup is an app that allows for backing up everything as well as deleting or freezing apps u don't want (system or custom).. its probably the best backup IMO because it actually reinstalls the apps back into the system, meaning when u go into the market, & look @ downloads, u see them there..Other ones don't do that (or @ least the ones I used & bought|MY Backup Pro being 1)

Like I say, u have to be rooted in order to do anything of this nature; if u want to look into that, just look in the All things root section.. all the info u want & more plus tax is there

What is your fear of rooting? Are you afraid you will void your warranty? You can always unroot. Are you afraid you will mess something up? You can always flash back to stock. Are you afraid of the word? It doesn't lodge your feet into the earth and keep you from moving. You are missing out on so much that your phone is capable of. Set yourself free with one click. It also gives you the ability to completely backup/restore your entire phone, at any point you choose.

When you freeze an app, with Titanium, it keeps the app intact but, doesn't allow it to open. With this you can freeze DRM, Amazon MP3, Media Hub, GMail, Messaging, and all the crappy Sprint apps, that keep opening on your phone. You can defrost the apps any time you wish. You can uninstall these apps but, it might be in your interest to just freeze them. If you want to have complete control over your apps, you really need to root.

I am thinking of rooting but want to wait for 2.2. I read the XDA "one click root" and it seems a little moore complicated than it sounds. There are 86 pages of guys who are asking why its not working or posters adding steps not included in the OP's instructions.
Why do u need the samsung drivers and where do they go?
Can u brick it if it dont work?
Can u update to 2.2 OTA when its released?


There has to be more detailed instructions somewhere right? Or do you have to read through all 86 pages to assure you didnt miss something?

Its nutn to be detailed about other than what theyve already posted..

As long as the drivers are installed on ur computer, thatz pretty much i.. u may hav to do it several times before it completes but thatz it...

It is super simple.The drivers are for your computer to recognize your phone as a device. They are installed on your computer. After you have them installed, go on your phone in settings/applications/development and check USB Debugging. Then, connect your phone to your computer via usb. You should have already downloaded the one click root to your computer and extracted it into a folder. Navigate to that folder and open "run.bat". This will open a cmd box that asks "press any key to continue". Press any key. It will go through it's motions and at the end, it will say to "press any key to finish". Do that and you are all done.
This cannot brick your phone. Your antivirus may kill it's operation, due to it being an exploit. So, stop your av before running it. Fire it back up after you're done. I have Kaspersky and it deletes one of the necessary files if I run it while activated. You can always re-extract if that happens.

I appreciate your advice and am really interested but:
1) It is my work phone, if I brick it I will have some "splainin' to do (although I am the Ex. Dir.)
2) I don't need another full-time job.

Checked out "all things root" when I bought the Epic and decided that more than 50 pages of problems couldn't be a good indicator of success. R these just newbies and idiots?
I might give it a shot if you can convince me its guaranteed not to brick and point me to a root app that seems foolproof. IYO, is there such a thing as a foolproof root?
