Eris Locking Up !

Apparentely , a hard reset doesn't solve the problem, so no sense in doing it.

I emailed HTC, just to make them aware of my situation.....................which everyone should do ! Link below !

EMAIL HTC !!!

Again, they will ask you for your serial #..........which is located underneath the battery !

So is there a way to back up your entire Eris in case of failure? When you guys had to do a hard reset, did it literally act as if it's a new phone? Had to go to each setting and re customize? Did you have to download all your apps again? Set up all your email accounts? Wallpapers? Etc?
Nothing to worry about if you are a Google user like myself. It went back to original factory setting albeit the new update I installed. My contacts came right back when I set the phone up again under my gmail account. My apps were listed under downloads in the market. It was a real simple process for me.

To get your eris to stop locking up you have to disable auto backlight................hope this helps

So lets say disabling auto backlight fixes the issue :

#1 Why should you have to disable anything to fix this issue?

#2 I've had auto backlight on since day one and the only time lock-ups have occured was "AFTER" the update.............reason please ?

#3 And your source for this fix is ?

I'm going to uncheck the auto backlight box and see if I get any freeze issues. Been fine since the hard reset...here I go

Mine froze last night after a phone call. I received a text message during the call. I hit the end button to end the call, but she had already hung up so the call was already ended, and it turned my screen off. So I pressed the end button to turn it back on, no problem. Except... the slide-to-unlock wouldn't work. The menu button wouldn't work either. I could turn the screen on and off as much as I wanted to with the end button, but the touch screen was completely unresponsive. I had to pull the battery, then everything went back to normal after reboot.

First time that's happened to me, and I did not like it :(

People, this cannot be stressed enough. We are all obviously having issues with the software of the Eris. HTC needs to be contacted by everyone having problems. If only 1 or 2 or just a handful of people email in, they are not going to take these problems seriously. The more emails they get, they will realize there is a real problem and work on a fix quite quickly. They don't want their brand being tarnished and don't want to lose profit. SO PLEASE CONTACT HTC WITH YOUR ISSUES! Don't let them give you the do a wipe and reset BS, it obviously isn't working.

Mine had been locking up after the update. I think I found the solution to mine atleast. I had purchased Advanced Task Manager (Arron La) and had it running in background. I went ahead and uninstalled and now no more lock ups. Before the update I had no problems with this task killer.

When did you uninstall it? I'm guessing you'll get the freeze again eventually because I don't have ATM (or any task killer for the matter) on my Eris and I'm still having the freeze issue.

Well at least they're owning up to knowing there's an issue. Wonder how long it'll take them now to figure out how to fix it.

Good. I wonder if the 1x/3g switching is a known issue?

That seems to be a link to a "Customer Satisfaction Survey" concerning customer service, rather than a link that lets your report issues with your device.

Again,EMAIL HTC ! concerning issues with your phone, even if they're aware of said issues ! Link below :
