I debranded my phone using the following guide
O2 Forum :: View topic - o2 HTC desire successfully unbranded
and everything went fine, got 2.2 running on the phone ok, problem started when I got a minor update but forgot to make my main card a gold card.
The minor update broke the wifi.
Got the phone downgraded to 2.1 and everything worked ok again but updates would not work, kept breaking the phone again.
So I resigned myself to being stuck on 2.1.
Decided to have another go at getting 2.2 back on the phone and everything seemed ok to begin with but again 2.2 broke the phone (had gold card in this time).
My problem now is the SD card driver seems to be broke as well. When I plug a USB cable in I don't get the option to connect as a disc drive.
Am now completely stuck.

Cheers in advance

Mik

Have NO access to the SD card, when I go into phone setting it says 'Total Space: Unavailable'.

Facory reset does nothing either.

Forgot to mention the 'Process system is not responding' error.

To make matters worse, I've since discovered I've lost my main SD card. I's not on the desk, under the desk, on the floor anywhere in the room, in my pockets or the bin. Not a good day so far :(

Have NO access to the SD card, when I go into phone setting it says 'Total Space: Unavailable'.

It will say that when the phone is plugged into the pc as the memory card is getting accessed. try restarting pc and phone. When you connect your phone you should hear a tone to say that a device has been connected.

Now as for your main problem of the screwed up Wi-Fi, I had this happen to me (forgot to have my goldcard in the phone and updated). You have to downgrade the phone and go back to Android 2.1. Use the official Roms to do this and look at the rooting section. Once your back on 2.1 and everything is sweet again upgrade to 2.2 with your goldcard in the phone. I use the official 2.2 ROM to upgrade as I have an Orange branded desire and wanted rid of orange bloatware on my phone, but its up to you what one to use.

I followed the instructions of this site to downgrade: HTC Desire: Downgrading HBOOT And Installing Custom Froyo ROM… | Mike Southby
Hope this helps!

Not had much chace to work on my phone as been on nights all week.

Still no USB access.

Have found my original main card and tried the RUU I have as I know that card is Gold (not sure about the spare, and I can't Gold it as the utility can't find the card in the phone). The update seems to start ok but eventually stops and gives the following error.

ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR

Have PB99IMG.zip file that I originally downloaded the first time my phone borked but can't put on the phone as no USB access and the card slots on my printer don't work as it's not fully supported by W7.

Gonna go get a card reader for my PC this afternoon.

Found an O2 rom

RUU_Bravo_O2_UK_1.20.207.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_124865.exe

and everything seemed to be goin ok but it's been stuck on 20% [Checking headers] for a couple of hours now.

So I think it's safe to say that's not going to work.

Would unlugging the phone now really screw things up?

NVM, the update process just failed.

have you managed to repair it?
Nope

What issue do you have?

  1. No radio
  2. No in phone SD card access
  3. No USB SD card access (option to connect as a disc drive)
  4. Have gold card utility and .img file from first time I flashed the phone nut the utility can't find the HTC MMC so can't gold my spare card
  5. 'Process system is not responding' errors
  6. Random re-boots while phone is switched on
Think that cover it.

Going to have one more try with a different rom and then have a go at rooting.

Edit: nope that failed, time to bone up on rooting.

i think there is a few different things going on here
1 i think your actual sdcard is corrupted: try getting an adapter for it and connecting it to a pc and formatting it via pc to fat32 or running gparted live cd and formatting it in there.
place it back in the phone and format it via the phone?

2. once done try and make it a goldcard again.

3. flash an RUU

i think mainly something is wrong with the card itself and thats why youve had problems with any flashing as its not working properly as a goldcard.

what software version are you on currently? you can always try and flash the o2 RUU and this would not require a goldcard

Tried a couple of different cards.

Have reformatted the spare card and no luck.

Just reformatting the main card (one that came with the phone), no luck with that. Gold Card tool gets me CID but can't find the card (well did briefly once).

Currently on 2.2, have tried the O2 RUU but I get ERROR[140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR

Have you read the downgrade utility thread by Teppic74?

Maybe downgrade and run O2 2.2 RUU?

[HOWTO] Downgrade Froyo (2.2) to Stock 2.1 (ANY HBOOT | WIN/LINUX/MAC | ROOT) - xda-developers

read VERY CAREFULLY, several times :)

Tried several methods, different RUUs, PB99IMG.zip etc. all start to work then throw an error.

I keep running into the same brick wall, SD card access. I've swapped cards around that often and formatted at least one of them several times I can't remember if my main card is Gold still or not.And I can't Gold it as the utility can't find it (did briefly once which gives me a slim shimmer of hope).
