connecting to home network

I'm a bit of a tech novice so please bear with me.

I have a DHD and a WiFi router to which is connected a network media drive. What do I need to do to connect my DHD to the home network so I can exchange files with my network drive without involving my computer?

Do I need to set up a VPN? If so the phone's asking for a load of data I just don't understand.

Sorry if this is absurdly basic and thanks for your time.

You learn how to spell correctly. Have no idea what you wrote.

LOL... you must not chat online too much i guess.. anyways if you can help i have no problem in typing it all out again just for you :D

I have my DHD connected to the home wifi..
but despite the phone showing the signal strength as excellent neither can i connect to any website nor does any of the apps recognize the signal..
is there any other option except a factory reset??? any suggestions???

hope that you get it and the spellings are good enough for you now...

@ Harry 2 & drhunter...

Thanks guys. Estrongs finds everything sure enough but it won't play any .avi files stating they are incompatible. Hmm.

Try your .avi on your SD card with the stock player.
If the stock player doesn't play it, Estrongs won't do it too.
And note that Estrongs couldn't stream videos.

But if want to play your .avi video on SD card then install RockPlayer from market :)
