Root Any practical differences between true AOSP ROMs and Blurless ROMs?

Now that cvpcs has worked out the major bugs for his Obsidian ROM, we can expect to see at least three True AOSP ROMs coming in the next few days (Unleashed, Obsidian, and Ultimate Droid). My question is this: what practical benefits can we expect to see from this new type of ROM? Are there any major differences in the end user experience between such 100% "from source" ROMs and those that have stripped most of the Blur away and replaced it with programs from source?

I'm told that the entire framework on these new ROMs will be completely built from AOSP. Does that mean that phones running such ROMs wont be subject to glitches brought on by Motorola software (I.e.- The now fixed battery monitor F.C. bug)?

I am very eager to learn more.

Maybe I'm wrong here but I was under the impression that there will never be a truly BLUR-less ROM for the DX. ALL roms will have a hint of Blur in it, have to for the bootloader to work correctly.

Its really just a function of how much is in there. And honestly Moto does a pretty good job considering all the function that is in the DX to start with. That's just my take.

It's more the bugs that piss me off. Many of them never existed in the original Google software, and only came about as a result of Motorola's tinkering. Some of them are only annoying, but others can seriously impede the basic functions of the phone.

Do you have a link for this info? Last I saw, Obsidian was a ways away from a true AOSP rom. I'd like to do some reading (not to discredit you or anything, just to learn more)

Check out cvpcs's site at ccroms.net for more info. Im a bit unclear as to the differences myself (hence this thread), but apparently there's supposed to be major differences between the Obsidian type AOSP and the Rubix type AOSP. I do know that cvpcs had recently written that changes to the AOSP apps could now be pushed directly to the phone as soon as they are made available on the Google cloud. Very cool addition.

Obsidian is all AOSP, except for the kernel. The kernel is the only thing we can't change, but I'm not sure I'd consider the OS kernel part of "Blur". Apart from that, Obsidian will be all AOSP.

Check out GummyJAR. In titanium backup, I filtered on 'moto' in the app list and it found 2 and one of those is Moto Torch Filtering on blur, zero.

I'm just about to switch over to Ultimate Droid RC2. RC3 is just about to drop as well, but I've been waiting since Wednesday for it & just can't wait any longer. So I'll let you know what it's like not to have blur, but unfortunately I won't be able to compare it to any of the current ROMs, as I've never flashed any of them.

Looking forward to flashing my very first ROM.

Im curious to know how Ultimate Droid differs from Obsidian as well. I know that the two are supposed to be similar, but Ultimate Droid experienced none of Obsidian's difficulties (primarily the reboot on lock bug).
