OK, just got my Droid X yesterday and it seems to be doing pretty well. I've already downloaded 2.3.340 and I'm working on some apps now, all free for now.

So far I've got:

Launcher Pro
US Army Survival Guide
Squibble
Angry Birds
Pocket Legends
Pulse News Reader
JEFIT (for work outs)
Battery Widget
PowerAMP music player
Google Translate
Fact Book

Ones left to download:

Post It Desk
GasBuddy
Multicon
Facebook
TV Listings
Barcode Scanner
Ringdroid
Rock Player (is this just another media player app?)
ESPN Score Center
Android System Info
IMDb
Fancy Widget
Dictionary.com

What else should I look around for?

Do I need to add another app for one of the previous apps I'll install to work it's best?

Are any of the apps I've posted just not needed at all?

Thanks for any help guys.

Handcent for texting. It's way more customizable than stock and simply awesome.

ruby:

These are the apps I like the best and use most often.

Handcent
Weather Bug Elite
Sportstap
Launcher Pro
MLB at Bat
Barcode Scanner
Audio Guru
Jorte Calender
Beatiful Widgets (a must)
Better Cut
Big Sport Fishing
Documents to Go
Flikie Wallpaper
Glyder 2 (for my kids)
Moron Test
My Tracks
NFL Mobile
Shazam
Widget Locker

Thanks you two. I thought I had written down Handcent as an app to download, must have erased it or something. I'll check out these apps.

You and me both my friend. I got mine yesterday and my wife has already yelled at me twice for customizing it and not doing blah blah blah. I came from an Eris and the Droid X is not even a comparable unit.

I'm apprehensive on rooting it before I get more familiar with it, but I really want that circular battery indicator. If anyone has any tips on getting that without rooting the device, I'd like to give it a shot.

This one?

I just used the regular battery widget, I actually think it looks better than these circles. It may not be as accurate, I think it measures in 10% increments, but I'm not sure why I would need the battery life to 1 point anyway.

The page I found that pic on says your phone has to be rooted. I'll probably go the root route after my 30 day test phase is up.

Might want to try the new launcher "Go Launcher". Many of us seem to be changing to it. Seems good so far.
I'm thinking about trying that. I don't care for the Launch Pro so far, seems like I only get 3 homepages, when I was getting, what 6 with the stock launcher. Maybe I just don't know how to manipulate it.

Can you share the link you found this pic on?

Yeah that's what i'd like to have. I haven't looked into it too much but I'd like to have the circular clock more than the stock one. I just think it looks cooler. It's all about your preference.

Everything that I read was that the Motorola family of phones only supported battery levels in increments of 10?
I think when it gets down to 20%, and the warning comes up, it must switch down to 5%, because I definitely had a 15% before I plugged it in yesterday.

Yeah, the more I see it, the more I like it. I guess I'd have to root though. I'll wait my 30 days before I do that.
