Nor will they ever, they have given up on the first 4.

just amazing. Its just my gut feeling that they feel they have better things to do than to worry about the first release phones that gave them their fat pockets to work with, then landing google (the big fish so to speak) and now this new phone that will send people off to oooh and ahhh who dont know any better....its all about fattening that pocket and they have done said the hell with us.

Im so done with samsung. Im going to take my gingerbread from supercurio whens hes done with it load it into this phone, dump it on craigslist, use my ghetto spare phone till the new lg x2 hits. cya i dont give an F about the consumer samsung.

thats where your wrong, i helped compile the captivate listings here (the one labeled Samsung Captivate Guide from Lekky FYI) when it started. I found the wifi tethering for it also.

take your knee jerk reaction and stuff it please.

Ive been here for some time and i am honestly tired of being disrespected by samsung.

as a LOT of us are. If you dont like it dont read it. No one is forcing you to. Stop reading stop replying and but the hell out.

Its not your place to moderate me or my anger and tolerance level for a subpar company treating its patrons like crap.

knee jerk no. i read through your last 3 pages of posts and every single one of them is either bad talking the capitvate, the nexus s, or promoting some motorola phone that hasnt been released and some lg i think it was. also this is the second time i called you out on it, not knee jerk

It is knee jerk. You assume everything I have to say is negative. Im posting positive reviews on two other forth coming phones. Thats not negative. I am posting negatively on two current SAMSUNG items because they are both FAILURES made by a FAILURE of a company.

Once again you dont have to read it. No ones forcing you to. I still will as I please post on the let downs that samsungs providing its customers. If you fail to feel let down by the lack of support you have gotten as a customer of theirs then great thats your prerogative. I however refuse to sit and not discuss it with other members of a captivate forum, who also have a right to voice their opinions about it. There are others who voice their thoughts and opinions about the PROS and CONS of the captivate, vibrants, epics, nexus s, evo, flips, razors, x10, nexus 1, and just about any other phones you can think of.

Please pull yourself out of stalker mode and remember I am one person with one opinion and there are plenty of others voicing it about their disgust with samsung right now. Broken promise after broken promise. If you think Im louder than someone else, so be it. Its me letting others know there are options forth coming very soon and buyer beware. You dont have to settle for busted ass products. Samsung has let the market down. They will continue to do so. If it wasnt for the Chefs and guys like SuperCurio the SGS line would be a complete flop right now.

Please remove yourself from Vapor311 stalker mode, let me voice my opinions on phones, why I think they suck or dont and dont personally attack me like ya did above stating the only thing I have to say is negative because it sure isnt. Ive not attacked you until now bub. I am free to speak out about phones here. It is a forum about well....PHONES.

/peace.

WTF? I'm not a huge fan of Samsung or any other company for that matter and I've had a couple of Samsung products that I didn't think were very good. I hardly would call my Captivate a FAILURE. It's a great looking phone and does everything it's supposed to do. When I had the iPhone 4 for a while I could have called that a failure but I didn't. I just moved onto something else. I've had Palm, Blackberry's and then all the iPhones before settling on the Samsung Captivate. I played around with a friends HTC Evo and wasn't that impressed. The rom on the Captivate can be changed to whatever suits you. Right now I'm running Cognition 2.36b and I love it. I couldn't care less if it's the latest and greatest rom out there. There's always time for change later. I also couldn't care less if Samsung cares about me or not. What do I need them for? I already own the phone. It's not like they are going to upgrade my hardware for me. The rest I can do myself. I also don't understand how people can review phones that are not even out yet?????? Anyway, for right now I am really enjoying my Samsung Captivate so much more than any smart phone I've ever had. I guess there is something for everybody. I heard a rumor that there are some people that actually like the Windows 7 phones. Gasp!!! Just my 2 cents.

1. The only people qualified to judge what is or isn't allowable on AF are the Staff.

2. If you disagree with a post, argue your pov respectfully. If you disagree with a topic, ignore it and move on.

3. AF is a site devoted to Android devices. However the device-specific sub-forums are for discussions pertaining to those devices only.

4. Constant negativity is counter-productive to the flow of information, causes friction and starts pointless flame wars.

5. Please review the Site Guidelines (links below) for further advice.

So essentially without the chefs making roms to save this phone and do the work that samsung should have you would have considered it a failure? Just curious.

No I wouldn't have considered it a failure. When I got the Captivate I was very happy with it but like a lot of us here I couldn't help changing things. I don't feel anyone had to "save" this phone. I didn't flash a different rom to save my phone or even solve any problems. I did it just because I could. Yes some people have had problems. I'm sure replacing the phone would have solved most of those problems.

on to bigger and better, screw supporting what we already gave the consumer.

It doesn't make much sense to believe that the R&D department working on new devices has anything to do with support for existing devices. While I must agree that Samsung should be putting more headcount toward the support end of their products, I also can't fault them for continuing to push new devices, especially since they make so much money with every new device launch.

What they don't realize is that the Captivate+working GPS+Gingerbread=something the iPhone can't even come close to...

Over the past year, the banquet of Android devices has become so robust that it's not even worth comparing them to the iPhone anymore. At this point, better or worse seems irrelevant, kind of like the whole PC vs Mac thing. They're just different and appeal to different demographics. Anymore, we should be comparing Android devices to one another. In one or maybe two years, I would expect Apple to launch a whole ad campaign about why iPhones are better than Android devices. "Hi, I'm an iPhone," "And I'm an Android."

It's pretty simple. They keep doing it because they keep selling phones. They abandoned the i8910 (for Android?) which was an unbelievable phone at the time. 720P/8MP in 2009, 3.7" capacitive touch AMOLED screen, etc.

I warn friends about it and still they buy Captivates. 2.2/2.3 Aside, leaving the GPS issues unresolved is unforgivable. And now I'm reading rumors of a Galaxy S2 ...

I've had Motorolas, LG, Blackberry and Samsung. Samsung is bar far the best phones I've had. I did really like the Blackberry Bold 9700 and Torch, but once I got the Captivate, forget it. And Motorolas? No way I'd ever own another one.
As far as Froyo. I don't really need it! I've rooted my phone, and was able to load the Sirius app, which the only real reason I wanted 2.2. As far as Flash, I use Skyfire browser for internet videos, and it works well. I may or may not flash a new ROM. I guess I'm just finding ways to make my phone work for me. I love this phone.
Technology moves so fast, maybe upgrading to 2.2 would be a waste anyway! My upgrade is again in Auguat, and I cannot imagine what will be available by then. SO, for now, I am using this Captivate to learn the ins and outs of rooting, flashing, etc.

So far I'm enjoying my Captivate and find it superior to my iPhone 4 in several areas. It has a great phone that's loud & clear. There's no lag to speak of and I've resisted the temptation to root it. It sees heavy usage and returns very good battery life given the size of the display.

Sure there's room for improvement, but I've yet to find the perfect phone or computer or... There's no such thing. I am certain about one thing. I greatly prefer Android 2.1 over iOS4.
