Rearth USA silicone case

Some of you may have seen the thread in the accessories section about a case that was offered to some members in exchange for a review. Well, prior to the user getting banned, I did respond and receive my case and figured I would own up to my end of the bargain and provide a review.

If you want to see what I am talking about prior to reading the review, this is the product:
Rearth USA | Judge us by the cover!
I got it in Slate Gray.

I have been using a TPU case for a while that I like with the exception of how difficult the buttons are to press. I have used other silicone cases before, but I typically don't care for how flimsy they are. This case is different. It fits very snug compared to your typical silicone case, so once it is on, it doesn't really slide and flop about like you would expect. In addition, the back side and the corners are much firmer than most silicone cases as well, so the protection seems much better. The part of the frame that fits over the edges of the front are a bit more mailable and would play very nicely with a screen protector.

My two favorite parts are: 1. How easy the buttons are to press! My power button is a bit recessed and it is still remarkably easy to access with this case. 2. The backside has a little cutout for the HTC logo. It seems minor, but it gives the case a much more finished look, in my opinion.

I realize that the $17 seems a bit steep for a silicone case, but I think that this one is definitely worth the money. If you are wanting something minimal with good overall protection, then this really seems like your best option. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it shows no sign of wear, even with a 3' drop. That old TPU case of mine is now history. The Rearth USA case will stay firmly attached to my HTC Evo 4G.

*Worth noting* I have already received my case and am under NO obligation to provide a positive review.

I ordered the Slate Gray case as well and I am returning it. While the case is hands down the most detailed case, I felt it was way too loose on the phone - almost like it had been stretched out. I removed the case and went back to my trusty $3.00 TPU case.

Again, the attention to detail is second to none, but I didn't like the fit.I felt like it would come off in my front pant pocket.

I recently received a red and black Rearth silicone case. I was somewhat doubtful at first as I have never been a big fan of silicone cases. They tend to attract a ton of dust, get stuck to fabric, and just generally don't offer any protection. Rearth's product definitely breaks that mold. The cases are extremely firm yet pliable enough to wrap around my Evo with relative ease. The attention to detail on these cases is top notch and honestly I can't think of any other manufacturer that can compare to it.

They have cutouts for everything, literally. The HTC logo, kickstand, camera, mic, micro USB, HDMI, speaker, LED's and headphone jack are all exact. They have also put graphical indicators for the USB and HDMI ports which really surprised me. They even went as far as to put the battery cover outline around the edges just like the real thing. The power and volume buttons are now much MUCH easier to depress and I have no trouble finding them without looking.

Now of course these cases do have a few cons. They are a tad bit loose around the vertical length of the screen but I don't see any way around that with a a silicone case and the looseness is pretty minimal. Also, the "black" case I received is more of a slate grey, which might be what its supposed to be and I was just under the wrong impression of it being a true black.

Overall the Rearth cases are great products. The pocketability is unmatched as far as silicone goes and the quality and attention to detail easily surpasses any case I've ever seen. They have great customer communication and support, I have nothing but good things to say about Blake.

If you have any questions about these cases please don't hesitate to contact me.

Overall rating 8/10.

I was one of the first to respond to their original PM... requested a "wine red" case to review.

Blake was responsive..
but I never received it.
Blake looked into it and emailed me on Dec 14 that they are sorry for the delay and it was mailed out on Dec 13.
I have yet to receive it... I have tried to email Blake for an update: twice
still no product!

OK.. i know it is a free ... and I have no room to bitch. But... I am very disappointed. :(

Also, the "black" case I received is more of a slate grey, which might be what its supposed to be and I was just under the wrong impression of it being a true black.

I asked for the black as well, but received an e-mail from Blake informing me that they did not have any black cases available for this trial period and that I would be receiving the slate grey instead. I told him I understood (I mean, what does he owe me beyond the free case!?!?!) and was rather pleased with the color.

I am next to certain that if any paying customer were to order the black case that it would be just like what is pictured on their website. My slate grey certainly is a perfect match.

Just received my case got 1 white and 1 slate gray. Fit and finish are great, only thing i'd change it maybe some kind of checkering on the side to improve grip. I got for daily coverage for less bulk and will use my OB commuter for times I might need the xtra protection.

Also wanted to add that it is much more stable with the kickstands out, which is expected since the case isn't as thick/wide as the commuter.

I wish they'd make a case that works with the Seidio Extended Battery and Holster. The Seidio doesn't Extended Case does not cover the top or bottom of the Evo. I don't want the Extended Rugged because it covers/blocks the kickstand.

I usually like Seidio, but they miss the most obvious design components in their initial product releases.

How dark is the slate grey? I want to order one but I am looking for something as dark or as close to black as possible. I am also tempted in trying to wine color.

I have one, the aqua Blue. For the times when I want protection, i use it.
Usually my Evo rolls straight naked, but if I'm going out on the boat, going to drive fast, ride a bike or anything else that will cause jiggle, wiggle or vibration I throw on this case.

Plus I love that the finish keeps crap like lint from sticking to it.
