Help dilemna whether to keep Moment

Hi Moment gurus!

I have had the moment for 3 weeks. I am having problems making simple phone calls. I need a phone first and foremost. Although the computer part is wonderful and fun, it is secondary.
When I call my office voicemail I need the dialpad to hit star and then to inout my passcode. It is incredibly frustrating. I hit menu to get the dialpad but it keeps disappearing. I keep hitting menu but it does not always respond in time. The voicemail program keeps saying enteri star or passwocode and I cant! So the voicemail program hangs up on me and I start this frustrating experience all over again. How do I keep the dialpad open long enough to enter my info?

Also at least twice this week in the middle of a call from my home, the person on the other end suddenly could not hear me for a few seconds and wss saying HELLO, HELLO, are you still there. I had to run to another room and start shouting-yest I am still here can you herar me? This never happened to me when I called from home using my old cheapo LG 160 cellphone on Sprint.

My job requires me to have a reliable phone. if this isnt I would rather buy just a cheap regular phone and a netbook for a traveling computer. Only problem is that Sprint Mobile broadband would charge me $60/month for internet access,,,,,

Hello, welcome to the forums.

I just tryed duplicating your first problem on my phone. After calling up the keypad it stays up on my phone and wont go away unless I dismiss it. What all apps do you have installed that may be interfering?

I also just tryed out something on a hunch... you can use the physical keyboard at any point without calling up the virtual keypad. You can also use the Fn + 8 key for * and Fn + 3 for # at any time with the Physical keyboard open. Try it out should work like a charm.

Your second problem, IDK.... kinda sounds like a signal problem to me.

Still, I wonder why my virtual keypad wont stay open? I havent downloaded any apps and it has been like that since day one.

The "hello, hello, hello" is a bug in the dialer.. I have gotten it randomly where the microphone doesn't turn on.. HAve to recall usually to fix it (granted this isnt as bad as the droid bug where you call someone with a motorola droid and everytime you talk you here a 2 second out of phase sound of what you said.. kinda like an echo).. as for voicemail.. i removed the password from mine and i use visual voicemail and havent had any problems..

the shortcuts are because those symbols are in blue above those numbers.. anything in blue on your keyboard means hold function and hit that key to use is..

As Adrift stated, the Keypad normally stays open once u open it; it of course locks which is good somewhat & u just double tap it to unlock it; as for the phone going out thing, did u take a look to see if maybe ur cheek/face engaged the mute button? I used to that all the time on my Mogul so once I went to the droid & it happened, I immediately knew what it was...

I need help with another dialing problem. When I am accessing my voicemail through the phone company, and hit menu to access the dialpad, dialpad disappears. Then, ascreen gets dark grey and message appears; Tap 2 times to unlock screen. I have to keep doing it-and it keeps reappearing. What is that?. So annoying

Why are you guys calling the voicemail? Just use the included voicemail program. It is so much better.

You might want to re-read the post.

Call your voicemail, there is a setting to not require a code when calling from your phone. Turning this off will also make the voicemail program work without the pin.

He is trying to call his work's voicemail, not his Moment's voicemail.

Sounds like a bug or something and you might want to switch out your phone. When I bring up the dialer and make a call when it connects the dialpad goes away. If I know I'm going to need the dialpad (to press "1" for english or something!) I swipe the dialpad open with my finger before the call even connects. That why when I need it it's right there.

That's actually a good idea. I always end up waiting until it asks me to enter a digit and then I go about trying to get that dialpad opened up and end up missing the prompt and having to start over.
