Question to Death or anyone else who knows better....when I installed this rom, worked great, then gave me issues with the nav and maps. I DID NOT wipe ext on the sd card after I formatted the card...could this have caused an issue?

Yes because these apps are probably trying to run off the SDcard and what class is your card?

If anyone is interested, I've done a test. I found a script that RE-odexes a rom, and ran it on one of my roms. Main results:
- can't apply themes
- seems snappier (probably due to the next point)
- dalvik-cache is completely empty (lots of saved space, about 40MB I believe)

Why the last one? Because if you have a .odex file, you don't need to store the app's cache in dalvik-cache, the .odex file plays the role of that cache.

I, for one, am going to be re-odexing all my roms.
The main reason for de-odexing a rom is so it can be themed. and makes it alot easier to add/remove apps. because it places the appropriate odex file into the apk or jar file as a dex file

Thanks DoctorZaius68 P.S. work on .2 is set to begin shortly ;)

This is awesome news Death. After some little mess ups on my part I've been running this ROM and it is by far my favorite. I don't even have the apps2sd setup yet, but it's soooo fast. I also noticed I'm no longer having to reboot my phone to get my memory freed. Even using taskkiller I still had to reboot. This ROM has gone all day and still shows 85 meg free.

So I decided to give Punisher another go, after so many positive comments in this thread, I figured there must be something to it, and I didn't give it enough chance (with the problems I had with it).

Happy to report that it's performing rather well, and I love it, this go around! Even fixed an issue or two I was having, and I love the theme, although I wish I could get the GB theme on it..but that's just icing on the cake. Thanks for a great ROM, death!

Death...think i should leave the dalvik cache on the internal memory until i get a class 6 card? thinking that having dalvik cache on the slower card might be causing the lag i was having

How do you move the dalvik cache to the SD card? I just bought a class 6, was wondering if it would be worth while.

Also what's the advantage of using ext4 over ext2, and would it mess things up if I converted ext2-->ext3--->ext4 AFTER the ROM has been installed and apps2sd were up and running (I'm guessing I would have to start from scratch).

~cheers

not sure what will happen if you change ext2 to ext3 to ext4, but im pretty sure in terminal its:
su
cachesd

that should move dalvik cache to the card. where'd you get the card? i can't find any local store that has one, only online and im impatient

I have a class 6 card and moved dalvic cache to it and noticed major performance problems and moved it back.
