tried all 3 systems

Microsoft (from ms-dos 2.0 to 7 ultimate x64)
OSX (on a imac 27" for a day or 2)
and linux(couple of distributions, red hat, mandriva, mandrake, ubuntu...)

what i can say of them
Windows: the most popular... 20 yrs of use more "compatible os i found yet"
OSX: great (if you don't do games)
Linux: once you know how to set-up your pc you're good to go

i had 2 iOS cellphone (3G) and as the forum adress is... i also own a android based cellphone
next try (might be sooner than i though) a WIndows Phone based cellphone

PC: Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, ME , XP, Vista, 7 (I've been using windows based computers since I was thwee )

Mac: System 6, 7, 8, 9, Mac OS X 10.1, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 (Been using Macs at school since I was 5)

Linux: Ubuntu 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, 10.10 (Been messing with linux occasionally since June '09

My favorite? Mac OS X. Just the pure looks associated with the OS is enough to make me like it, but the truth is it's the best multimedia machine I've ever used. The video editing software is so much better! If only they had iLife for Windows, or at least a Garageband variant!

My most practical? Windows 7. I run a lot of programs (and games) regularly which do not have mac counterparts (Or the counterparts are too expensive or not as good). Plus windows is budget-friendly, nice for a student who doesn't have $3000 to spend on a full-featured Mac Pro ('cause you know that's what I'd get if I could, after a $3000 gaming rig of course)

Most difficult to me? Linux. Even though I've been using computers since I was 3, I never completely memorized all of the terminal prompts I need to use. I've got enough down to get me by and solve light problems. And I've built computers and know how they work, both from a software and hardware point of view. I just prefer the visual interface in most cases.

Most used? Windows 7. It's simply because I have it on my fastest machine and I like playing games a lot. In addition, It's practical in almost every use for a computer I have.

Having experience from three major operating systems (And having fixed all 3 OS type computers for my family at one point (I'm the techie in the family, but my dad still knows more about windows and building computers than I do, so if it's software related I'm always the one who gets called), I can say that there are pros and cons of each, but they are a lot more similar than you might think. If macs weren't so expensive (I got a decent windows 7 laptop for $630, I'm sorry, did you say $1,000 for a similarly equipped mac laptop? No thanks) I'd probably have better than a Power Mac G4 MDD right now, but I'd still have my windows laptop and Linux desktop too.

Main thing is the design aspect of it. It's an absolutely gorgeous laptop with a unique keyboard and font that isn't on any other notebook. The thinness is also really appealing. It's a steal at $823 (for the pearl white with the 25% off coupon) or $900 (for the brushed black aluminum).

If there was another notebook that thin, beautiful, more powerful, long-lasting, affordable ($900 is a steal), and fashionable... then I'd definitely consider it.

I can't imagine an i7 in a notebook like that. There's a reason why it doesn't exist for 13" notebooks. It would absolutely kill the battery life. I'm hoping the battery life is good in the Adamo. The MBA has the highest battery life currently. If it gets at least half of what the MBA gets, I'll be pleased.

I actually was looking for a Vaio but couldn't find one that matched the Adamo or Air. The thinnest 13.3" one was 1"-1.2" and had a 1.2Ghz i3 processor and 320GB HDD instead of a 128GB SSD. It also definitely doesn't look as premium. The Macbooks and the Adamo are the most beautiful notebooks out there. I've checked HP notebooks and they also didn't match up with them.

Adamo and Air are really in a class of their own.

Ok... so since this thread and my last post in it..

I actually started dating a girl with a mac. Its nice, I don't have to worry about her having virus's.

With that said, Since she has started dating me she has installed windows on the mac .

I try not to talk much about it but, she has also come to realize for the same price as her MacBook (not even the pro just the mac book) She could have a quad core gaming computer that could play any game she wants to play. And to be honest I could probably throw in a netbook and the whole thing would most likely cost less than her current mac..

I try not to tease her or make fun of her to much. The truth is the quad core comp wouldn't be on par with my monster.. but, she isn't interested in crysis anyway..

I just got her into gaming a little while ago, and I am hoping to get her more into it..

However, I want you to all do me a favor.

Walk up to the next person who gives you a BS line of crap about "macs having higher quality construction" and I want you to slap that person as hard as possible.

My girlfriends mac is about a year old now.. and the plastic is already being worn down. She (being a bit naive) blames it on her "boney wrist" and says its her fault.

However, I have seen the way she pampers it...

My laptop is a 3 year old HP that runs over 100c now.

I have put millions of hours onto that thing from gaming. It runs and has always run hot. I took it back and forth to school every day for a long time.

I ran that sucker into the ground before letting my ex keep it when we broke up. (I have my desktop and her comp died).

You can look at my laptop and tell its old.. the spots where my wrist have been for 3 years and the faded plastic aren't gunna lie to you.

However, I would rather some faded plastic after 3 years, than Cracked plastic after 1.

Using OSX (sadly, I am actually getting more use to doing the more I am around her) is a PITA.

And airport sucks. Can't explain it entirely.. however, people have asked me for help at school to get their mac connected.. I don't know why airport just doesn't like the internet or something.. and my girlfriends mac has the same problem theirs did.. it will connect to a network when IT wants to.. not when you want it too.
