Surely there is an app or a workaround that will display texts how they should be? i.e. a separate folder for "inbox", "sent", "drafts" or "outbox".
not in what I consider riddiculous conversation format.

Please help as I use texts all the time for my business and I hate how it is even with Handcent installed.

Seems silly to me, why do you need all those extra folders when you can see everything under each contacts name? No new smart phone is going to go the way of the old Nokia's from 1990 with the way they tried to make SMS similar to email.

Whatever floats your boat I guess. Good luck.

One option would be to move the SMS messages off the phone completely using SMSToMailBox. This will send all your incoming SMS messages (and outgoing if you get the Pro version) where you can sort them however you like in your favourite email client.

It would not be too difficult to develop an SMS app that displays the messages in the format you want, and there are developers who will develop apps to order, so you could ask one. The fact that there is not such an app already probably reflects a lack of demand.

You're alone in this, your (old) system is a step back for 99% of users.

Gotta disagree with you there im with the op on this one, well slightly lol. I think you should be able to have folders, that's one thing I liked about my old nokia 5800 - being able to save them special messages and even jokes in folders. Prefer he conversation idea though. There there should be an option so you can switch or at least an app for that!

I need the same app I'm going to return that android toy if I don't find one. I'm importing 1500 sms from my old WM Qtek9000 and when I export to my new dumbphone "htc dream" I get everything in this teenager-like format of threaded sms, and no folder at all and no option for turning sequential like in my old QTEK Lack of option is a REAL STEP BACK.
I WANT A TOOL NOT A TOY!!

Threaded is more intuitive and easier to locate texts. It's not teenager ish. It's logical. The problem is you're too used to old fashioned methods and you find them easier and you seem reluctant to change, regardless of if its for the better or not. However that is your prerogative but this is a tool for the modern age and I am happy we do not have to waste space on internal memory storing options, settings and code for archaic and for the majority, unused "options".

Maybe try symbian if you want something current without having to tolerate the "now factor"

Yes, specially if you are loking for a draft or for a message by date or when you know you send some information to a client and you now some part of the text but don't know to whom it was sent originally.

You mean "modern age" as "no choice"? for my is old or stone age fashioned because a "tool" should be fully configurable and I had a lot of options in my "old" windows mobile device.
I've bought basically a mobile phone and I have a lot of stuff and games etc. that I already have in my tablet but cannot have full configuration of my phone apps!!

Well search function will do that. Anyway sms = short messaging service. It's not really intended to be used as a business tool.

If you're sending "information to clients" you really should investigate email via exchange and possibly a blackberry enterprise server. Unless of course you're a one man band, maybe Google partnerships will allow your domain managed by gmail. I have this on my desire and on my blackberry too. I can find anything I've sent.

I understand you're frustration, perhaps you want to follow up leads on information sent, but if you conduct business by sms, its probably a lost cause anyway.

Time is money and if your client could'n be in front of a computer all the day, in some cases you have to make a quick response on SMS. This is not just a whim from me. Anyway I think I'm going to adapt to the new crap dumbphones beause there is no choice, just like M$ did some years ago.

Blackberry is/was a predominately business phone and that has the threaded type sms view.

iPhone, Samsungs, some Sony Ericsons as well also have adopted this, hardly "teenagerish" if all phone companys are adopting this method, for me I think its easier, cause sometimes, I look at a text, think meh, then text back 10mins later. On the old system, I would have had to find the outbox text, read what I said, read what they said then reply. On this threaded view, its just there :D

......

This thread is frustrating me a little.

Even with "Sent" and "Inbox" view, SURELY looking for a particular message is easiest with the current conversation view?? If you could find an app to do what you're asking, would you not be scrolling through ALL sent or ALL inbox messages, looking for a particular persons name, then looking for the thread context your looking for? Ie, made simpler and quicker by simply viewing the thread and only having one list to scroll through??

Just seems like a long workaround when what you need is sooo simple with what we already have...
