Root just rooted my phone what can i do next ?

i just rooted my vibrant today and i know that once you root your phone alot more features are avaliable . And i was wondering what can i do now

Install custom ROMs, tether to your computer.... Just take some time and read through these forums and over at XDA. You can even google that question and stuff will come up. Just take your time and read through some of the threads.

yes I know that but can you give me some good suggestions and apps that would speed up and save battery?

Are you going to flash a new ROM? If so, make sure you are using a Vibrant kernel. That will help with battery. Also, I have found that the super IO kernel from Eugene performs wonders on battery life. You may want to install Rom Manager from the market, even if you aren't going to use a custom ROM. That will allow you to use clockwork recovery, which opens up a whole other list of options.

I wasn't really planning on adding roms im very new to smart phones and I'm afraid I might brick my phone.and what are kernels ? And I manly just wanna fix lag, use set cpu, and get a full days worth of battery do you have any suggestions on that? But if I have to get rom to speed up, fix lag and have good battery life what would be a good rom to get

I have tried most of the major ones on the market, and I would have to say that Nero V3 or Axura 2.2 are the best I have used to date. Although 2.2.5.5 my beat them both out. Hard to tell at the moment. And as far as bricking your phone? So long as you read carefully about what you are doing, and follow instructions you should be fine. I would still make a nandroid of your current set up, as well as familiarize yourself with ODIN in case the worst should happen. I have yet to hear of someone who has permanently bricked their phone.

Thanks alot, I know that odin takes away roms or reverts the phone backto the easy it was out of the box .okay just to recap get nandroid,odin,nero v3 and if I get the nero rom will that help with lag and battery life?

xda-developers.com provides a wealth of info. Do your homework and you will be fine. Definately download ROM manager (which will give you ClockWorkMod access) and Titanium Back up from the market - very useful tools to make your life easier, and splash for the paid versions!

I am relatively new to flashing ROMs (one week) and after a FROYO ROM I tried Nero v3 and love it.

Once you have flashed a new ROM it is prudent to ODIN back to stock before you flash a new ROM (makes sure there are no "ghosts" from the previous ROM) and always make a back via Nandroid (ClockWorkMod) and titanium backup.

Nero V3 comes with voodoo, but it is disabled. So you will have to go in to your internal sd open the voodoo folder and delete the file called Disable_Lagfix. Then when you reboot, voodoo will install, and you will be lag free. I personally prefer the super IO kernel with OCLF V2 on top of it. Provides a little bit better battery life from what I have found. If you do that, though, you will also end up flashing the JL1 modem, so if you want 4 or 5 you will have to flash that on top of super IO.

Just follow the steps laid out by Team Whiskey, they are clear and easy to follow. That's what I did and no problems so far!

Now that you are rooted, I would install a security app that tracks your lost phone. Install it as a system aplication, that way who ever finds it, has a harder time uninstalling it.

okay so i just flashed clockwork and ive been told to get "nandroid" then flash the nero v3 rom . Is it as simple as that ? also are there any other steps i need to take before i flash a rom ?and what is nandroid ive looked around and i really cant find anything on it.

Just go in to Rom Manager and click "Backup Current ROM" It will do the rest.
