Do apps transfer to new phone?

Ignore my sig, that's for people who have a different set of problems with downloads. You should have already signed in with your gmail account when the phone booted up. Once you get past that, it should start downloading automatically, provided it was the same gmail account that you set up with the last Fascinate

Appbrain helps primarily in discovering apps, and you log onto it the first time with your gmail as your apps are linked to it. If you change which gmail your using when you get a new phone, they're gone (hence my question). Did you get your phone replaced at a Verizon store? Given that they didn't restore automatically (and I'm assuming you kept the same gmail), and don't show up, I'm not sure what else to suggest. In your shoes, I'd go back to the store and ask them what's up with it not working. You may also want to look at some of the backup options for future use (the better ones require root access though). I'd also try posting your question in the Fascinate forums in case I missed something by usinga Motorola device.

Apps should transfer, when I sold my Captivate and bought a Nexus 1, soon as I logged into my Gmail account and go to "my apps" it was all there, free and paid.
Remember it has to be the SAME Gmail account.LOL:D

Side note: Market has been glitchy for me lately, go to "my apps" and sometimes half or most of my apps are not listed. Sometimes thye come back on their own some times they all come back as soon as I download some other app.

The market saves everything you pay for, like a digital locker. So long as you log into the new phone with the same gmail address as the one you bought them under, they'll be there.

I read someone on another thread going on about how he couldn't install camera 360 ultimate on his new phone... turns out that apparently the EULA states that the purchase extends only to that 1 particular phone you first download it to.

edit: can't find the EULA, but can quote this
You can enjoy free-update service for your lifetime whether you purchase it on GoogleMarke or buy it through Paypal. However, there is one kind tip for you: if you buy it through Paypal, you have to carefully save the User.Info under SDCard/Camera360/, because it is not only your voucher for having successfully purchased Camera 360, but also the key for using Camera 360 Pro. You need to pay again if you changed your phone because of the unique phone IMEI which Camera 360 had bound with.

yes, i went through the verizon store, they mailed me a new phone, and i also used my same gmail acct, only my paid apps appeared, not my free ones???

When I hard reset my phone, the first time I went to the Market I saw all my apps, free and paid for under "My Apps". I clicked on all the ones I paid for and installed them and I clicked on most of my free ones and installed them.

However, I backed out of the Market and when I went back to "My Apps", the remaining free apps I hadn't installed yet were not there. I had to search for each one and install them.

So for me after hard resetting, the first time I went into the Market, I saw all my apps, free and paid, in "My Apps". If I back out and go back, any free ones I didn't install were not under "My Apps" any longer.

That is why I use an app called App Dragon to email a list of apps to myself. That way I don't have to try and remember all the apps, I can just refer to the email and search for them if need be.

If your paid apps are there, then I believe you're out of luck with the freebies. I've seen other posts (closer to when my Droid was new in late '09) where people were testing the option to have their apps backed up to the market by doing as factory reset and watching the results. The paid apps were always there, but the freebies were hit or miss. Some people got them back, some didn't. The same hit or miss results applied to the auto download of apps right after the initial log in. I'll post the link if I can find it.

I use App Dragon too, as well as App List, aTrackDog, & Listables! to generate listings of installed apps, which can be helpful.

App List Backup is another one I recently discovered that looks promising for automating re-installation of apps, following data wipe or phone replacement, which takes a long time when you have a lot of them, list in hand or no. Just have to remember to refresh periodically.

I haven't yet put it to the test. Market Reviews are favorable, with a decent number of downloads.

I accidentally factory reset my phone when I was trying to install a custom rom. It ended up only saving maybe half of my free apps, and 1 of my 2 paid apps. I had tasker which I paid for, and it was saved.
I lost my paid full version of PDA net (which I had so I could access secure sites while tethering) and it saved only the free version that I installed first before paying for the full version. I would have had to pay the $20 or so again to reinstall which I didn't bother because after rooting the phone I was able to install Barnacle which seems to work more reliably than PDAnet anyways. It's my only source of internet now.

I went from a atrix to a galaxy s2. I cannot find on the market where to transfer my purchases. I read them below but see no link for it...any help would be great

Make sure that you are using the same gmail acct. you used on the Atrix. They should appear as "Purchased" in the market. Now if you are referring to Tegra 2 games, I heard those don't transfer over.
