[ROM] Rolling Rolling Rolling GummyJAR just keep a rolling aha... 2.5 12/28 - xda-developers

I DID NOT MAKE THIS

I am simply alerting everyone that kejar just released his new version.

From his thread on XDA:

GummyJAR

Stripped down and geared towards SPEED!!!!

gj25.png

Do not install themes over the top of GummyJAR 2.5 unless they were made for 2.5, you will get stuck in a bootloop if you do

Note: GummyJAR 2.5 can be installed over the top of 2.1

GummyJar is built for and only tested on 2.3.320/340 based phones.... If you are running 2.3.15 you might have issues Don't worry D2users you are good
smile.gif

GummyJAR is an AOSP like rom, yes it is based off of a moto rom (2.3.340)

99% of all apps were compiled by me from source (a few needed to be there from moto... like three or so provider.service apps)... This is a first and I was able to accomplish this though modifying the framework in both cvpc's and cyanogenmod's source. All source changes will be available to anyone who requests them after GummyJAR is released.... So yes this work will work its way into other Blur based ROM's

The look and and feel of this rom is AOSP + Gingerbread with a few tweaks
smile.gif
If you are a themer and would like to release themes for my rom PM me...

GummyJAR is really as close to AOSP as we are going to get until cvpcs and Matt get things figured out and the bugs cleared up!!!

Super sweet, I had just flashed back to GummyJar yesterday after giving Rubix Focused a spin. I had serious lag issues with it for some reason or another. But GummyJar is fast and smooth.

Ok so it says you can lay this on top of 2.1 without issue, I just wanted to confirm that all I need to do is download the zip, put it on the root of my SD card, then go into bootstrapper and flash it without wiping data or cache.... correct?

So I downloaded this and all I have to say is I love it.

Only one thing is what is concerning me right now... The backup assistant app is no longer available and in the transition of installing this 2.5 (comming from stock .340), I lost most of my phone book contacts. How can I restore all my old contacts? BTW I tried to restore them online on the VZW website, also tried restoring them on Titanium Backup. Just no no luck on doing so.

Ok, I'll try that in a few minutes. Thanks

Quick edit... Tried to restore contacts from GMail acct, but only good. Only had 20 contacts stored on there, so yeah. :-(

I ran into this issue when I started messing with roms, here were the steps I took to get all my contacts on Gmail:

1: restore my nandroid backup
2: export my contacts to sd card
3: import my contacts into gmail on the website
4: flash the rom I wanted
5: sync gmail, you get all contacts!

Be sure that the contacts you create from here out get added to Gmail. The stock rom that came with the phone did not do this (my experience) but every rom since has done it by default.... there is a setting somewhere but it escapes me at the moment. Hope this helps

Yep.

Really, if you're using an Android phone, and you aren't using Google Contacts to manage your contacts, you're losing out on a really great function.

Whatever anyone is doing now for their contacts, migrate them over to Google Contacts. No Backup Assistant, no manually backing up/restoring contacts... Just plug your Google information in and boom, all contacts will be there. You can add them on the computer and they'll OTA sync to the phone. You can add them on the phone and they'll sync to the computer. It's beautiful.
