Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (Christopher Moore)
Illusions (Richard Bach)
Life of Pi (Yann Martel)
The Time Traveler's Wife (Audrey Niffenegger) ...seriously, skip the movie, the book's awesome
the entire Discworld series (Terry Pratchett) ...if I listed them separately, I'd have to use up 30+ spaces
Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom (Cory Doctorow)
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Seth Grahame-Smith)
Watership Down (Richard Adams)
Catch 22 (Joseph Heller)
Alice I Have Been (Melanie Benjamin)

Lots and lots of others. Probably easier just to list authors I think everyone should read: Terry Prachett, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, George R.R. Martin, Richard Bach.... okay, that doesn't work either. That list could pretty much go on forever, too.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal was great, very funny. I'm sure it would have been even better if I knew the bible better. I saw many references go by where I thought "I just missed something".

Being very familiar with the Bible as well as Eastern philosophy made the book especially enjoyable, especially Moore's take on how they influence one another. I also love that it was written in such a way that it appeals to believers AND non-believers.

I don't know about "Must Read" as I'm not sure such a thing exists outside the Bible, but some of my favorites are:

Hobbit/LOTR (Tolkien)
Harry Potter (JK Rowling) I think because of the popularity of this series she doesn't get enough credit for how creative it is.
Jim Butcher (everthing he's ever written)
Nightside (Simon Green)
Sookie Stackhouse series (Charlaine Harris)
Outlander series (Diana Gabaldon)

Sword of Truth series (actually 12 books, well 13 counting the prologue)
That's what I was going to say!!!! This is the best book series I've ever read.

I had a friend that didn't like to read, but I convinced him to read this and he loved it. I still haven't gotten the 2 or 3 books I lent him back =( In order to keep everything flowing as good as possible, I recommend reading the first book and THEN the prologue and then continue the series.

Sookie Stackhouse series (Charlaine Harris)
I second this one, as well, although I like the first handful of books (1-5 or so) better than the later ones. I've actually stopped reading them at this point, but I've read the first book 2 or 3 times.
