extended batteries?????

Do they exsist yet for the droid? If not any one know when they r coming out? I love my droid but damn it suck as far as the battery and yes I have tried several different setting on things like notification refresher setting and screen setting but any one who has tips on better battery life is more than welcome to share.... still I am hoping for and extended battery for my baby/phone lol.....

Here's a great post on things to disable to extend battery life...

"I know many folks out there love these features and won't give it up for good battery life but I can tell you that if you turn background sync off and disable GMail push you battery life will skyrocket. During the course of a "normal" day I use about 70% of the battery life with push and sync enabled. When it's off I use about 10 - 15% in that same time period. For me it's well worth it. Just thought I'd give my .02 on this seemingly hot topic." -- DroidIs4Me

Awesome battery life now that I turned GMail Push and background sync off

My question is this. If you have two batteries do you have to charge one IN the phone then take it out or is there a way you can charge one w/o it being in the phone. I'd like to have some type of charging dock to keep both charging at the same time (one in phone and one in dock)

There is an external battery charger offered on Verizon's site.

i'll give this a try, and see how it works, since i dont need to see email instantly for work or anything..

as long as sync is off, is the gmail push off automatically ?

I'm waiting til they release the slim battery as well, to see just how much extra juice it provides. I used the big one with the custom battery cover on my BB Curve and loved it but I would like to see pics of what the Droid looks like with the bigger battery and custom door.

I don't want to have to worry about disabling things to get better battery life. I bought this phone so I can stay fully connected and use it to it's full capabilities.

its got me thinking...

with the sycn off ~ yes it will save battery just because it isnt constantly searching for data.. but also, if you arent getting email notifications, then you arent checking emails, following links, downloading files, reading a thread you are subscribed to which makes you want to check out a new app, etc...

therefore you are saving battery life simply because you are using the phone less throughout the day...

jsut something to think about...
