Just released a little while ago. These guys are good.

That blue theme on their website looks hideous, especially that lock screen.
Think from now on I'm sticking with Pete's, Blackdroid, Cyan .. they're really the standards anymore. Everything else is pretty much just a copy, there's very little innovation going on at the moment, and everyone just uses their stuff anyway. Then slap their gaudy "Please Donate" sigs all over the place. I really should learn how to compile all this crap together so I can beg for a couple hundred bucks.
I think these guys put together a very good rom that has a lot of new features not seen anywhere else, including BB and UD. And if you think about it, isn't most every rom just a copy of someone elses work with a few tweaks here and there?
Agreed. There's always room for improvement over the standard (Cyanogen, from my point of view). If the source is open and you can prove yourself by adding some new features then go for it. From what I can tell, this ROM is trying some really innovative things.
Cyanogen made a name for itself because they felt Android could be improved upon. Google's code is open for one reason: development is good.
If a ROM is bad, then the market will turn its back to it and forget it. No harm no foul as long as credit is given where it's due....and it is from what I can see.
I just wish they left the vanilla theme alone, or at least leave the option for the stock theme, and didn't slap "Sorcery" everywhere.
I wouldn't say that its finally out. The first sourcery was released not so long ago. But just stick on the GB theme and you will be fine. The only gripe that I have with this rom is the font. I want to know how to change it.
rofl, you delete my post when I just defended myself against this thin-skinned "developer". My initial comment wasn't even a bash against this specific rom aside from mentioning the ugly theme, then he whines and attacks me. Whatever, pander to the dev if it makes everyone feel better.
I didn't even say anything that harsh except for "not everyone will kiss your ass."
Wow, Barely two weeks into the ROM scene and already drama. You're gonna go far, kid! lol
Anyway, just a quick lil review for those who want to give it a go. Everything booted and loaded fine, rather quickly. Restored vast majority of my apps.
All apps seem to be in working order. Only real problem I see is in the clock app, under alarms (was the same in the 1.0). Can't read what times you have listed, but going into them is no issue. I've only tried one theme, perhaps that makes a diff. (EDIT: ok, one more app prob. MotoTorch isn't working for me. Just get the lil camera clicking sound. If you want this ROM, but need a flashlight app, use TeslaLED).
Buttery smooth app, even at stock 600MHz. As fast and fluid as any I've put on my Droid, and that's including LFY and UD.
A lot of customizations, and that makes me a happy guy. Very easy to implement said customizations as well, makes me a happier guy.
Battery life is pretty damn good. My phone's been off the charger for about 14 hours now and I'm down to 60%. My phone usage has been pretty low considering how much my average is, but it's still be pretty significant.
Overall, this is a VERY good ROM. If you're feeling the flashing bug like many of us do, I highly recommend trying this ROM. Now that the bugs have been taken care of, there's no reason not to. Not every ROM will work great on every Droid, nor will they meet every users needs, but this will come pretty darn close. Think of it as UD without the guilt. I keed, I keed.
To those that remember RRS and RRI they know I was pretty strict at grading ROMs. I gave out one 5 the entire duration of it, and that was for LFY 1.7. I would have to say this ROM is even better than that, as it's just as smooth, just as good battery life, but even more options. And now that it's getting the popular themer's attention, and even more features to look forward, I suggest jumping on the bandwagon now.
One last thing just received and email from the developer of moto torch since I know someone earlier said that didn't work on our rom. The developer informed me that the app checks the build number to see what phone it is but a lot of developers including us change the number so that's why it didn't work. I just sent him the build number so moto torch will work for sourcery when he updates that.
I think that one thing to remember - and it's important - is that without the independent devs supporting everyone they can, the entire Android experience would just be so much ... less! ... for all of us.
They're essentially doing for free or peanuts what you pay dearly extra for from value-added phones - and the overall user experience is typically far superior to stock phones.
Here in this thread we have requests asking the user community for critical feedback. I find that that's not at all too much to ask - especially when the mainline vendors rarely do anything of the sort.
That said - there's no further need of bandwidth use voting over what the thread is for - it's already clear what the thread is for.
This isn't the wild west - this is a specialized thread.
Support your local dev community and use this thread as intended - otherwise, just lurk, that's ok too.
