led on during charging??

Does anyone have this annoying LED bleed right around the port for the charger while charging? This is my first day with the droid and I'm wondering if I have to throw a towel on it while it charges all night....

You're speaking of the charging indicator. Everyone has it. It is designed that way.

You can turn the phone around the other direction if it's too bright.

it's a really dim led, hard to believe tha tlittle thing is keeping you up at night lol. the clock on my DVR across the room is brighter then that thing

I've been wondering about this as well. I've seen a lot of posts about the fact that the charging light is irritating. I'm not trying to be rude, but how is it irritating? Usually when I'm trying to sleep, my eyes are closed. It certainly doesn't create enough ambient light to be a distraction. I usually have more light coming through my windows at night than that thing can put out.

Lol, fair enough. If you're used to sleeping with no light at all in the room I can see how it may be a distraction. I've just grown accustomed to having a computer, DVR, clock, etc that have bright little lights on them, so it didn't strike me as that much different.

lol. my room is a tomb at night. I like it that way. Oh well. I can live with it.

One question. I tried turning off my phone while charging it. I powered off, plugged in the charger, and it turned on by itself. It did this a few times. Is this normal??

The charging LED is ridiculously dim ... it was the light omitting from the 4 soft buttons that stay illuminated in the dock that bothered me. I say "was" because I found a work-around. You can read about that here in this post. Been working for two weeks now, without fail.

I just use LED Hacks for this. It automatically disables/enables and LEDs you want (besides the charging LED on the micro USB port) when you dock/undock your Droid. Or you can manually turn them on/off via a widget if you don't use a dock. You just have to be rooted.
