Root Top 3 Vibrant Roms

Can I get that wifi app too please???? :D

Wifi calling

Just remember it needs to be flashed through clockwork mod recovery like if you were flashing another rom. I had to google around for it since one of the custom roms I put on didn't include it. And just this last time I had to do it again because it got messed up in my backup somehow.

Nero v3 with voodoo 5.04 turned my phone into an absolute beast. Minus the nexus s, I would not hesitate to say that I now have the best device available on the market. The speed and responsiveness of this phone now is insane. The battery life is awesome (6:30am - 11pm with moderate to heavy use and I'm usually still around 40%). GPS locks on in seconds and is within a couple feet of where im actually at. Apps install in seconds and the browser is crazy fast. Honestly you owe it to your self if you are a Vibrant owner to flash this ROM.

I just can't get over how awesome this ROM has made my phone.

Between axura and nero v3 I like nero better because of the colors. And personally I can't tell the difference between the 2 performance wise.

EDIT: btw usalee here is a link to what the app looks like. When you were messaging me earlier I was out having a late lunch and couldnt post the link.

I flashed this via clockwork mod recovery and it works, but it broke my Swype in Nero v3. Swype doesn't work for me anymore, I get an error message stating that the swype package thats installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality but it doesn't function at all. Has anyone else experience this problem?

After posting this I tried deleting the wifi calling.apk from system/app and when that didn't work, it occurred to me check the "About Phone" and I noticed my Build Number changed to "FROYO.UVJK6.Macnut.R14.Final" so I flashed the "Stock Swype" from this link:
http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=126
and that fixed my Swype problem. I don't like that it seems like I have a mix of 2 roms so I will flash Nero v3 again.

Dear all - I'm very new to this forum as I am searching for way to upgrade my Samsung Vibrant T-Mobile running android 2.1 (Eclair?) to the best and most stable 2.2 (Froyo) available out there. I'm not an IT guy by no mean and would appreciate very much for as much details and instruction as possible where to download, how to install, and so on.

From waht I read, the Vibrant is a excellent phone that just needs better version of Android installed and it will run much faster.

Many thanks in advance...

Justin

Is there a fee for the wifi calling feature?
The calling through wifi itself is free, but your minutes are still burned.

Which doesn't make the slightest bit of sense to me at all. If you're on your mobile in your house and leave, (as i've done before) the call will drop since you've lost connection to your wifi. Wifi calls aren't that great on the vibrant in my experience anyway, so the feature to me is pointless.

Maybe if it didnt charge minutes and it WAS free i would probably use it but i'd rather stay on 3G as it is now.

--Disabled the feature--

Just incase someone asks, you can disable the feature by turning on your wifi first, clicking your app drawer, selecting the wifi calling icon, and just slide the switch to off.
It will not let you switch if your wifi isn't on for some reason.

Took me a while to find it so i thought i'd share.

DVNO,
sounds like you're pretty impressed with your outcome. I've been keeping my vibrant stock for reliablility issues with my previous ROM, how is yours for that? lock up much? Force close anything often enough to be irritating?

I am extremely happy with Team Whiskey Bionix 1.3. The best way I can describe it is pure butter. Everything works great plus it looks and feels like gingerbread. It is still a 2.2 (Froyo) ROM but they use multiple Gingerbread elements. Check out TeamWhiskey They specialize in Vibrant ROMS so this one is really tweaked specifically for your phone. I also recommend Overstock 2.4.1 kernal and the SetCPU app ($1.99 in the market) which will allow you to (safely) overclock your CPU to 1.2ghz. For me this this setup has been pure bliss. I've tried tons of other ROMS but always come back to this. If you need help just holla. Glad to do give you a hand.

I've been running a rooted D1 (original moto droid-->verizon) for awhile now and I've done something I had promised myself I would never do...I recently rooted a coworkers Vibrant.

His main objective was to remove some of the stock bloat, which we were able to do successfully, but I'd like to flash a nice stable ROM on that he won't have significant trouble with...mainly because I'll probably be the one to troubleshoot it.

Anyway, I am very familiar with Cyanogenmod ROM's...especially the Gingerbread iterations and was wondering how stable it is for most. I've got this link which leads me to believe it's still basically in alpha. So, at this time, would you guys recommend going with the aforementioned Team Whiskey - Bionix?

Sorry, this is kinda a rambling post and I always wince when I see the "which ROM is most stable" threads but...there it is...i've done it anyway...Which ROM is most stable and any idea when we can expect a nice stable CM7 for the Vibrant?
