ADW Launcher EX

Has anyone tried the ADW LAUNCHER EX version on the Evo? How do you feel about it? Is it better than Launcher Pro or Go Launcher? Should you we just stick with Sense? Also is it worth the money?

Personally I preferred Launcher Pro over plain ADW before they added a paid version. ADW Ex pretty much adds these custom animations when sliding through the home screens. I was curious and I tried it... but the animations aren't really my cup of tea so I went back to Launcher Pro which I am perfectly happy with so far.

Are you rooted? Obviously I'm still running sense. I really like it but i would like to try something else. Thanks for responding. I'm just ready to try a different launcher but I'm not sure I'm willing to lose my widgets. Sense is doing the job for me rite now. But it needs a make over.

I am rooted... but I was running LP long before root. If its widgets you are worried about then Launcher Pro kind of makes up for the loss of the sense widgets with Launcher Pro specific widgets for the Calendar, Bookmarks, Contacts, Facebook and Twitter etc. Oh... and you do know you can easily install Launcher Pro or any other launcher and switch between it and Sense if you want?

Yes I am aware of switching between the two. Does LP have a email widget?

Yes it has an email widget. I have been using lp and love it but if you want the widgets u have to get the paid version but it is worth it. Much better then the rest out there

I am a fan of LP; however, the new ADWlauncer EX is smooth. It would be perfect if it had Friend Stream and/or People widgets like LP. So right now I am searching everywhere for a way to flash an Peoples widget simular to LP.

I agree, the widgets are my main concern. I have a noob question for you. Do you have to be rooted to flash something to your phone? If you don't have to be rooted to flash, how do you flash things to your phone?

I have had LP a long time and love it. I did try the new ADW, and have 2 things made me go back to LP.
1. lack of widgets as mentioned above
2. in landscape mode in the app drawer, the column all the way to the right is mixed with the dock.... irritated me enough to lose the $$ and run back to LP
I read on LP forums that a total rewrite?? is in the works... considering his 1st version.. this should be pretty cool

I was going to mention this as well. the current launcher pro is based on the stock android launcher. actually its a heavily modified version of it. Federico has a lot of features he wants to put into it, but he is currently limited to how much he can modify the stock launcher.

So he is rewriting launcher pro from the ground up so he can incorporate these new features. he has been working on it for about a month and a half now, maybe longer. so expect a much more polished launcher pro with added features in the near future.

I have used launcher pro since june, before I was rooted. I tried the regular ADW and didn't really like it. the current launcher pro also uses less system ram then sense to run. so its kind of a win win.

you can replace all of your widgets with launcher pro plus and some market widgets. may just cost you a few bucks, but I feel its worth it.

edit: launcher pro plus is currently 2.99 I think. I would bet that after he releases the new version that the price may go up. when he first released the paid version he said the price would someday go up.

frederico lives in a south american country (i think) that google market doesn't support so you wont find the paid version in the market. the app will link you there.

I tried ADW EX but I went right back to launcher pro. Honestly, I didn't see anything it did better than LP. It was more form over function. I really couldn't care less about what direction the icons fly off the screen when i scroll, as long as its quick. But thats just me. Plus LP has the sliding dock, which is a must for me.
