LauncherPro - Gmail count not working

I've been using LauncherPro for quite a while and love it, but the message count for Gmail won't show in the launcher bar at the bottom.

The message count/red pop ups works fine for SMS, but not for Gmail. I only have a Gmail account setup, nothing for the standard email program and I've checked all links etc and it's all present and correct.

I've even backed up my settings, removed LP, reinstalled and restored and it's still not working :(

This is on a Nexus one with 2.2.

Anyone any ideas or suggestions?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling again but this time don't restore your settings. Just manually set up the bare minimum of what you need (i.e. gmail on dock, dock settings set to show gmail count) and see if that works.

You might just be restoring the glitch when you restore LP settings. Might not work, but it's worth a shot.

I'll give that a try later and post back.

Thanks for the tip.

Ah ha, I think I've sussed it.

I've 2 accounts with Google, a free gmail account and an Apps account.

I don't use the free account, it forwards to my apps account, but I've re-enabled sync on my phone for the free account and disabled the forward on gmail and bingo, an unread count for the free account.

So it appears it;

Doesn't like 2 accounts
Doesn't like an apps account
My apps account shows as second in the list behind the free gmail account

Anyone else with a similar setup have a different experience?

had the same problem and then found this :

Upcoming changes to Gmail app.

Jul 9th
I just received some pretty sad news. The API that LauncherPro uses to access your Gmail messages (used on the Gmail widget and the Gmail dock notifications) is being removed in the next version of the Gmail app for Android 2.2 and higher. Apparently the API does not meet modern security standards.

What this means for LauncherPro users is once you update to this new version, your LauncherPro Plus Gmail widget, and LauncherPro Gmail dock notifications will stop working, and even potentially crash the launcher if you try to use them (I don’t have access to this upcoming version yet, so I cannot fully test it).
I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope that the Android team will come out with a revised API soon enough, so that we can re-gain our Gmail integration in LauncherPro.

This just happened. This thread is from November, not the same issue.

That explains why it stopped working after I updated Gmail recently. Probably not why OP was having the issue, but it's the reason I'm having the issue. Good to know.
