Help Updating using the market

It could be just me, but does anyone else use the market to see what applications need updating using "My downloads" ?

I check there once a day to see if anything needs updating, and quite often I see some apps with their status showing as "free". A nice simple feature to help me update everything right?

Wrong. Everything recently has been showing as "Installed", so there was me quite happy in the fact that everything I have installed is the latest version until I was browsing through some applications and saw a few apps were showing as "free". I checked back with "My downloads" and saw the same app showed as "installed".

This used to work, is anyone else experiencing this same issue and if so, what then is the use of "My downloads" apart from knowing which apps to reinstall on a hard reset?

Yes having the same issue. It was nice to be able to check quickly but now as you said you actually have to trawl through the market to see what is updated.

I'll check out that aTrackDog thingy though

I have since installed aTrackDog as a solution to this problem, Im not a fan of downloading apps to fix problems with standard functionality from the device. But since installing aTrackDog I am beginning to prefer it to the market side of updating.

I have been using the "dog" since it appeared and love it ... and I use Astro to Backup all apps to the sdcard ...

The only downside to Astro when loading apps from backup is they appear to the phone as 3rd party apps that haven't come from the market, and if the market works correctly then the market identifies the apps as being "free"

Well for me, the Market "My Downloads" is the downside because by using aTrackDog you can see all apps installed whether 3rd party or Market.

My DownLoads doesnt refresh what apps are really installed and is therefore not accurate ... so my being able to backup and restore any app makes the "dog" my normal daily quick check .. for whats need to be updated ...
