Help Internet charging on phone...

When you switch off the screen, Wi-Fi is disabled to save battery life, you can keep this setting on if you want but you don't have to (Settings>Wireless & Networks>Wi-Fi Settings>Menu Button>Advanced>Wi-Fi Sleep Policy). What you want is to disable the mobile network, go to Settings>Wireless & Network>Mobile Networks then disable mobile data, and you'll no longer be charged for using the internet. This happens because Android is an OS that likes to be always connected to the internet so apps like Google Talk can notify you immediately when you get a message, however you don't want that, so just disable mobile network :)

When you download an app, you are using internet... That's why your credit got used...

Free means you don't pay for the app, but you need to pay for internet to your carrier...
Yes l know l'm using the internet when downloading a app Nirob, but like l have already said l was downloading my apps when my wireless broadband was picked up and the 2g icon went off the phone screen but the 3g was still on the phone screen.
So l should not have paid for downloading my apps if the wireless broadband was on my phone should l...

Hi dudeman, l have gone in settings>wireless&network>mobileNetworks then disable... so it now says mobile network disabled.
The 2g icon has now gone when l go on screen after unlocking, but the 3g comes on first for a few seconds before my wireless does...
If l did use the browser the few seconds before wireless comes on the phone screen would l get charged for 3g, so would l have to wait till the wireless icon comes on screen...

Also the 3g icon stays there all the time when wireless is on or not is this normal or can l disable this off screen also..
Whats the difference between 2g and 3g on the phone... 2g is not on now but 3g is still there..:thinking::thinking: very confused and upset over credit l've lost.

I believe that what your talking about is the network signal..

Above is an image of the notification bar with 2 icons: the signal bar and the mobile network icon which is the icon on the left. That mobile network icon should now not be there any more because you disabled it. Now the icon on the right, the signal bar, shows you the signal strength and whether the signal is 2G or 3G. The difference between 2G and 3G is, 2G is the standard network connection, whereas 3G is the newer connection to the network, allowing you to have higher quality calls and fast speeds when using the internet, when not using Wi-Fi. As you have disabled the mobile network, your credit should not be getting used up any more :)

I said that because after disabling the Mobile Network your credits shouldn't get used... Go to Settings> Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks Settings and tick 'Use only 2G Networks' while Mobile Network is disabled... I know it doesn't make sense but trying won't hurt... :D

You don't have to disable 3G, it won't affect your credit in any way :)
It wont show up on the phone because FLV files can't be played on it, you must convert it to MPEG format:
Go to this site YouTube to MP3 - Convert YouTube videos to MP3 and click the 'Convert by upload' tab, then upload the FLV file and convert it into MPEG or MPG, then it should play on your phone :D

So by disableing the mobile network does not disable 3g then dudeman .
Been out with the phone today and tried to access the internet to see if it would come on and it did'nt :) so thats great, but did notice the 3g icon went to 2g ... why would that be.

Also can you tell me how l can download pictures off the internet to save, like off google images etc... Thanks

No, 3G is a type of connection to your provider (T-Mobile, O2 etc.) disabling mobile data is making sure that you cant use the internet when not using Wi-Fi. The icon changed from 3G to 2G because the signal changed from 3G to 2G its just the type of signal used, it doesn't really affect you in any way.

To save an image from google images on your phone, tap and hold on the image until a window pops up, then click save image. :)

Dudeman did the convert by upload from the site above and it changed the FLV file into MP3 Format sound so l only have it on sound:thinking:
How do l get it onto MPEG or MPG as l cannot see it on the covert site you gave above..
