Hey guys I recently got a Droid Eris and I'm trying to figure out how to put music on it from my laptop via USB connection. I've unmounted and remounted the SD card, but I still get no window or anything popping up on the laptop. The only indication of the device being on the computer is the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon at the bottom status bar. I'm sure it's something stupid I'm doing wrong haha, but any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Doubletwist is an application for your computer, not the phone. :D Give me a sec. and I'll try to find you the link.

LOL... the website is http://www.doubletwist.com.
You should also try searching the Eris forum for doubletwist. There are people that don't like the program and prefer others. It's always worth a double check before you download, but personally I think doubleTwist is great.

i plugged my phone in with USB and it tried to install the driver but came up and said to insert disc that came with "ADB software" I have no disk. windows search didn't turn up anything either...help I wanna put music on my eris...just got last week.

On your Eris go to Settings > Applications > Development and see if USB debugging has a check mark next to it.

Not only did I have to turn on USB debugging but I have to manually mount the disk every time I plug in the usb cable. After I plug it in I just go to Menu/Notifications which gives me the option to mount the disk. I then use Windows Media Player to sync music to my phone, it creates the Music folder on the phone the first time you sync files with it. I prefer to use a program that can sync with the phone rather than just dragging and dropping files to the disk.

Hi, first post. :)

I didn't even install anything. I just mount the sd card and it asks me if I want to install the software. I just click "ask me later" (just in case), then it opens up the sd card folder after a minute. Once that is done, I just drag my mp3 files into the music folder (and if its not there, create it).

Keep in mind you can also just plug the micro sd card in your comp via a $5 usb adapter and create a folder in the root directory (call it music, or what ever you want), and drag and drop all your music in there. Plug it back in the phone and voila! You shouldn't have to do this... mount should be working unless your computer is having plug and play usb recognition issues. Some computers try to name usb hard drives with duplicate letters so it wont show in my computer and you wont get the pop-up. You have to go to device manager and see if it shows there and change the duplicate drive letter for your microsd card to a unique letter.

ems1983, hi and welcome to the forum.
No special programs are need to put music on the Eris. All you have to do is plug the Eris into your PC, then on the Eris click the selection that says something like 'mount SD to computer'. I don't remember the exact verbage there, as it's been a while since I've seen the stock ROM - which I presume you are using.
Once you've got the phone mounted to the PC the PC should see the phone as just another hard drive (like plugging in a USB jump drive or a camera). From that point you drag and drop your music from the PC to the 'Music' folder on the phone.
When you're done be sure and 'safely remove hardware' before you unplug the phone from the PC, that way you're sure not to corrupt the data on your phone.
Once all that's done the music player should find and play all of your songs.
