How to fix a loose DX headphone jack

My 3rd DX becuase after a while the headphone jack becomes touchy or loose...I dont ever use it with headphones in my pocket...just sitting on my desk..never abuse it...
how do I open it an fix this or whats the problem? My ipods get abused 5+ years and headphones jack still works

you can use a dental pick to bend the contacts out to make connection.

I would take it back in and try for a fourth. You know the ol' saying: "fourth time's a charm" lol. I don't have any issue with my headphone jack and I've had mine sine launch day

If i can fix it with a needle or something then ill do that, Bending the contact out makes perfect sense.

any idea how? with a quick paint diagram?

I dont wanna trade this in because the last one before this had a really warm color temp screen i hated...

I had a similar problem with my Kyocera 7135 years ago - as it turned out the solder joint holding the jack to its PC-board came loose and I was getting intermittent audio through the headphones. I ended up Googling how to tear this phone down (actually very easy) and just re-soldered the jack.

Problem Solved

This being said, the DX is a much more powerful phone than the Kyo 7135, so you might want to think twice before tearing it apart. Best bet might be to have Verizon replace it (even though for the 4th time) through the regular warranty...

I'm switched to a bluetooth stereo headset so now I only use the headphone jack to aux into my car stereo for long roadtrips.

I am on my 5th DX (At least 3 due to bad headphone jacks, one due to pixel issue on screen, and one due to speaker not working). The headphone jacks are supper sensitive to any tug or pull on the cord when plugged in. I have also made the move over to bluetooth and I will not be going for number 6.

There seems to be a hand full with loose jacks.

I would try the bend the pin idea. if you have decent lighting, look straight on down the hole and you will see a copper colored strip of thin metal haning down. So to speak.

Or if its not haning down you will see it at the top. This would be your problem. pull it gentlely until you get good contract.

I'm using the Plantronics Backbeat. I got them from the Verizon store. They sound really good and are comfortable.

I have also tried the Motorola Motorokr. They sounded very good but were uncomfortable and hurt my ears. I couldn't wear them more than an hour or so.

I used to have droid eris, and the bluetooth transmitter was not powerful enough and the heaphones would skip. No problem with the DX. No skipping and I can walk a long way from the phone and not lose the bluetooth connection.

My DX has the same problem. I keep thinking about taking it in, but I don't feel like going back to stock

You should not need to buy anything else. The adapter would only be needed for a computer that doesn't have bluetooth built in.
