All,
I was hoping to develop this for use with our (Bonafide Software) current project, Clockwork Rune, but time simply did not permit it, so we opted to use Unity instead.
With that said, any of you who have worked on video games in the past know exactly how important an engine is to the development process. Sure, it's possible to develop a nice game with OpenGL directly, but it is so much nicer to have a game engine that streamlines the development process. With that said, it is quite obvious that the Android world is lacking in the game engine department, particularly 3D game engines. Because of this, I am starting a new project dubbed OpenAE. The project will be open source (a.k.a free) and, as I am very busy with Bonafide, I am enlisting the aid of the community to help develop this engine.
The engine will be mostly written in C++ with hooks for use with the Android NDK, while some android specific components will be written in Java (such as the Input manager).
If you are experienced with Android development using the SDK and or NDK, and you also have experience in game development, shoot me a PM and we will get everything setup.
I will be making a Google Code account momentarily, so stay tuned.
