Root Rooted My Mesmerize

I rooted my mesmerize, but now i dont know what to do, i got wireless tethering, will us cellular charge me more for this? also, with the mesmerize monthly plan, do i still have a 5 GB limit? I'm scared of going over this limit with the wireless tether.

Also, I've read that there are skins, but I don't understand where to get them once rooted, I'm really having a hard time finding things that I can use now since I'm rooted, any help would be great, thanks.

Rooting doesn't hide your data usage. It doesn't increase or decrease your data usage.

If you are downloading movies and watching streaming video on a nearly constant basis every day, yes, you will most likely trip over your limit.

If you're browsing the web, checking your email, and streaming Pandora, you probably won't ever have an issue.

USCC most likely won't bother checking under the hood to see how you are pulling down the data, rooted or not. There was a wireless modem app on the stock ROM. I use it all the time (using it right now actually) and haven't gotten any nastygrams from USCC.

That's just my personal experience. That doesn't mean you won't get a nastygram. But even rooted that could happen.

i use the wireless tether now, i just thought there was a different place for apps after rooted but i realized now that theyre in the app store still, any good apps? i'm trying to change my lock screen right now, the slide the glass and puzzle pieces are pissing me off

I use launcher pro plus for my skin. The one thing that may make me break down and root this phone is that the Samsung stock UI is still running in the background. It won't allow me to shut it off. So LP Pro runs over it, which chews up the RAM.

But LP Pro is so much nicer, especially with Beautiful Widgets along with it.

Not sure about lock screen apps. I haven't looked into them.

I personally use weather and toggle widget, but also use launcher pro plus. I may have over looked it, but does launcher pro plus have home screen feature where it has the loop feature where if u r on the last home screen and try to go to the right it will take u to the first home screen? Adw launcher I know has this but I like the overall layout of LP better

Yes, you can enable this same functionality with LP Pro. Its in the settings/preferences menu.

If you're worried about going over your limit, get the 3G Watchdog app. It shows how much data you have used since the beginning of your cycle. Personally, I haven't yet gone over 1/2 of my data plan (although I might this month), and I use the wif hotspot feature quite a bit. I just don't mess with large downloads or streaming videos.

What is UI ?

UI=User Interface. The home screens that you load widgets onto, the app drawer that holds all of your applications.

The stock Samsung Mez UI is known as "Touch Wiz". HTC's version is called "Sense". Launcher Pro, ADW, and a few others make 3rd party launchers that allow you to fine tune the UI customization to a much greater degree than the stock TW.

now that i rooted my phone, I will be updating to version 2.2, i have heard about the update killing the battery, so i want to be able to close things running in the background.

what app should i get for this and how can i do it?

Also guys, I have one more question, ever since i updated to 2.2, my messages don't show the picture of who the message is from, but my contacts still have all the pictures, any suggestions?

This question has been covered in many other threads. You have to have a picture on your google contact record. It can't be one of your "linked" accounts.

so did that change because all of my texts had pictures with them before the update from facebook
