There does not seem to be a dedicated room to this awesome looking phone, so I thought we could all meet up inside here.

To me this looks like a dream phone...

• Stock Android
• Nice enough design
• Good camera and connectivity
• Good screen

And i'm hoping
• Good price !

To me, it's kind of a Desire HD with stock android.

Of course, it's by a lesser known brand... and I do tend to like HTC build quality... but i'm really not after SenseUI phones anymore (not that there is anything awfully wrong with it, but the inconsistencies and slow updates do really bug me) and the Nexus S (with no SD and high price point) is not really what i'm after either.

What do all you guys think?

Do you think the DesireHD (with SenseUI) is still better? Might Huawei be slow with updates anyway? And if its a similar price, do you all think the Nexus S is better then?

I agree! It's a beautiful new phone and I'm anxious for it to be released here in the US.

Cricket is going to be one of the Carriers for this phone, as was announced by Matt Stoiber, V. President and General Manager of Devices, just a couple of days ago in Vegas.

I'm sure it will be reasonably priced compared to the other androids offered by the 'contract' carriers.

I'm hoping a Moderator will see this and create a Huawei IDEOS X5 topic in the Phones forum. :)

It will be offered at a much lower price than the Desire or the Nexus S.

Huawei is dedicated to offering a similar product at a more reasonable price.

This should be under Huawei IDEOS X6

different phone from the X5

Thanks! :)

Ok.. I'll move this thread to the proper forum once it's created, Jazziette.

For now, perhaps we should leave it here rather than put it out in the generic Android Lounge area. I'll PM the admin and see if he'd like to begin a new device forum.. I'll post back in a bit.

Yes, X6 is the 'higher end' phone. A Phandroid page on it exists - but clicking the 'forum' link results in a 404.

I'm hoping this phone comes to the UK soon. I read Europe will have it soon so hopefully that means us. Otherwise I presume an import will work fine as long as I go unlocked?

I hope so. If they do end up similar price then they are then much more evenly matched and harder to choose between. But the SD could be the tipping point for me. I intend to use this as my main Mp3 device, and 16GB is less than I have in music.

Its frustrating how little details we have on it isn't it! Price being the big question, along with more carriers (Cricket is a good start)

Stoiber says the X5 is going to retail for about the same as the Huawei Ascend ($159)

So I don't think the X6 will be that much higher. Some maybe but not all that much....not like $600 or anything. hahaha

What's the difference between x5 and x6?

One is a smaller midrange phone with a 800mhz processor (X5) while the other is a larger high end model with a 1GHZ (X6)

The X5 also sports a rounder design while the X6 has a nice square look.

In my eyes - they are like the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire. Similar, but different audiences. (And both look better than the Wildfire).

Well, there ya go! LOL

I didn't know the X6 came in a rounder design. Hmmmm....where did you see that?
