New Zio, Initial Impressions

Just received a (Sprint) Sanyo (Kyocera) Zio as a Sprint Service replacement for my defective Samsung Moment.

Just received it today, spent some time activating it and setting it up.

Initial impressions:

Zio performance is similar to the Moment. Sometimes responsive, sometimes laggy. I live in an area of good data speeds, so download times etc. feel the same on both phones, which is to say "fast enough for me to be happy" given 3G.

Zio battery life seems to be better than Moment, even with lower capacity battery.

Looking forward to a Froyo 2.2 update for the Zio. I hope it wakes the Zio up and makes it maybe more like the LG Optimus S. :)

After looking at the user reviews for the Zio after I chose it as my Moment's service replacement, I was worried that I had chosen the wrong phone. After testing the Zio in the Sprint store, and receiving (UPS) and using the Zio today, I am actually happier with the Zio than I thought I would be.

Thought I would pass these initial Zio impressions along. It seems the Zio posts are few here, I wish there was more excitement (and posts!) around this phone.

1) After approx. 3 weeks of use, I find I like most everything about the Zio even more than the Moment. The only issue I have with the Zio is the screen keyboard ... I would not want to have to do a lot of typing with it. I would probably type more with a phone with a physical keyboard (or a larger screen kbd like w/ the Evo 4G). I typed more w/ the Moment, because I could. My fingers are size "large". :)

2) It is still very quiet in this (and other Forums) about the Sprint Sanyo Zio ...

Do people use the Zio?

Are people generally happy with them (as an entry level Android phone)?

Is this why its quiet: (Sprint) Zio users are happy, and just go about their lives? :)

3) I think there should probably be 2 areas on the forums, one for the "Cricket" Zio, and one for the "Sprint" Zio. Lessens confusion.

1.) Try Better Keyboard in the app market. It seems to work out very well for me, as opposed to the standard Zio keyboard.

2.) I noticed that too! I'm a Sprint Zio user and am pretty content with it performance-wise and such. I guess we don't have too much to complain about :)

@aimeeattitude,

Thanks! I'll give that keyboard a try!
