I just saw this video and, well, the WP7 looks super smooth in its animations. What do you guys and gals think about what is shown in this video?

Software not optimized yet? Phone has been on all day?

it is a bit choppy like i have said i have seen many videos were it has lag/choppiness and I have seen a few without. I dont know what the real culprit is but we will see i guess when the phone arrives

I've always thought iOS was smoother than Android in scrolling and zooming. I've played with a few WP7 phones and they're just as smooth as iOS. I've seen videos of the Atrix scrolling through photos and it was very smooth. Here it wasn't. One thing that has kept me from jumping to Android until now is the fact that overall it's not as smooth as iOS.

Yea who knows what the circumstances is with this phone but most other Atrix demos I've seen have been pretty smooth unlike this video

Hear hear. Since CES, there has been zero new information on this device. Nothing fresh to keep the public interested. AT&T needs to say SOMETHING. All we have are the same shaky cam videos people took at CES.

I blame Blur for all those problems. It looked to me that the gallery app and the contact list were different from stock, I've never used Blur myself, but I hear mostly bad things. I've been hoping they put some more work into it so it was smooth and fast (especially with tegra) but I guess I'm hoping that the software gets better. I agree that the more I see it in action, the less impressed I am. I'm still excited about the phone though.

especially if they wait to release around the time MWC is there are gonna be other devices and this will loose its luster

ha ha you guys are starting to sound like your typical bandwagon fan. When the team is doing great you're on board, but now that we have struck out in the bottom of the ninth, you're ready to jump ship LOL.

Lets wait until we at least see a full review and unboxing before we pass judgment. One laggy device that's mounted as a display should not be a major deciding factor. It could be a software glitch or just a pre-production bug. I know for certain it isn't a hardware defect, because the dual core is more than capable of handling all the processes.

That's fine and it's your right to do as you please. This phone isn't for everybody but it is the cutting edge of technology. Whether we have to wait 1 month or 2 months, it's still going to be a gamechanger. Even if other phones are announced they won't be released before this behemoth. It's all a waiting game and it's better not to panic every time a new hiccup is revealed.

I'm using a Motorola Bravo right now, with an 800Mhz single core processor. It's not rooted. (Not exactly the easiest thing to do like it is with other brands.)

Running full BLUR I was getting 960-980 Quadrant scores. With LauncherPro I get 1080-1125. I do think BLUR (and any overlay) will slow the phone down somewhat.

That being said, Android is still not the point, unfortunately, where it is as polished and smooth as iOS. iOS is beautiful out of the box. Android looks like a 10 year old Linux GUI out of the box.

The reason iphone is so smooth is because they only have to code for one GPU. Animations, scrolling, anti-aliasing etc all utilize the GPU and hardware acceleration on the iphone, so the UI and web browsing is buttery smooth since it isn't draining the CPU. Android has yet to incorporate this into the OS because they would have to code for all the different variants on the market. The guts are there to match ios, they're just not utilized.

You hit that one right on the head. I had hoped from rumors that gingerbread would bring hardware acceleration on the major platforms but they must have not been able to include it in time. If Nvidia is working with game devs to optimize gaming on tegra, it would be real nice of them to also be working with google on optimizing the UI as well

Yes, it has been an issue for a while and one of my major qualms when it comes to Android. They improved the garbage collection in Gingerbread which makes it a bit more smoother but they still need to focus on implementing GPU acceleration for all the top end devices. It makes no sense that all these powerful GPU's are only being used for gaming when they could do so much more. The end customer would have a much better experience.

Wow this makes my year old nexus 1 look like its running 4 cores lol. My nexus is way smoother than that. I blame motoblur and the fact that android OS isn't yet optimized for dual core phones. On paper this phone looks like a beast however the reality is it will most likely have a locked boot loader and be filled to the brim with bloatware not to mentioned severely crippled by at&t and lack at least 2 of the major stock built in functions of 2.2. Last but not least the damn phone has motoblur.... I rest my case. Beautiful hardware tragically hindered and gimped EPIC FAIL. This phone should have been the new Nexus stock with 2.3.

I totally agree that the latest Nexus should have been a dual core, but Google did work with Moto on the Xoom, so I guess it was Sammys turn at stock. They seem to be rotating manufacturers for "pure google" experiences.

I totally agree that the latest Nexus should have been a dual core, but Google did work with Moto on the Xoom, so I guess it was Sammys turn at stock. They seem to be rotating manufacturers for "pure google" experiences.

I think Google choose single 1GHz because it knows that full dual core usability probably wont be till next year so the versions of android run perfect with the 1GHz for the foreseeable future
