The Evo Shift ROM

It's because the memory tools show post-system ram and only a single filesystem on rom - same as they do on the Evo.

The Evo Shift indeed sports 512 MB ram, 2 GB rom - HTC EVO Shift 4G Specs

I just bought one for my wife and was disappointed to see only 1gb of internal memory (not ram). 650mb is taken up by system files.

And they only included a measly 2gb microSD card.

For the average user this is probably enough though.

For people who have the phone, can you clarify the size of the ROM? Or maybe just the memory available for applications...

There were all these reports that it was a 2gb ROM, and that was often cited as an upgrade from the EVO. Then the available memory was cited as the same as the EVO, which has the 1gb ROM.

Even some reviews have stated that it has a 2gb ROM, which made me think they actually CHECKED the phone to clarify this, and didn't just read off an early stat listing...

Some clarification on this would be great!

Internal rom is 1gb. Available to user out of the box was 342mb. A 2gb MICROSD card is also included.

(Didn't I just post this? Lol)

I was looking for the filesystem breakdown on the rom because your findings disagrees with HTC's published specs.

I'm presuming you used a tool to break that down and see that.

They changed the rom architecture and indicated that on their web, so it wasn't a cut / paste error.
