Any way to automatically update all apps?

True. Im still using the htc version of beautiful widgets. Maybe if you could set an update que though...

A queue would be fantastic. This is how the Cydia jailbreak store/directory/catalog worked for the iPhone and was really useful.

You view the details of your applications, reviewing the update log (if there is one!) and select an option to add it to a queue if you so desired. Once you finished reviewing any updates you could then select to download and install the queue.

This also worked with new applications you wanted to install. Everything could be queued up and installed at one time.

The reason you don't and can not have an "Update All" button or "Checklist" is simply because almost every APP is made by a different individual (s) addressing different issues with each APP. That is why it is not a feature within Android, outside of our OS Android doesn't make many of the APPs in the Market, they are all third party APPS.

Not trying to be too blunt, but it's clear you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. It makes no difference what the app does or who it's made by, they could easily make updating apps take 1 click for all or even just 1 click per app... either way would be better than how it is now.

The iPhone does it easily.

Ok folks beat me with a wet noodle already, you guys make it sound like I gave him some bad stock advice. Maybe I didn't read and or understand the OP, or maybe thats how I see it, but its not the end of the world. And who really cares what the IPhone does, this is an Android forum with a question about a feature in the Android Market, goodness - Move on already...Last I looked this was a free forum about something (android market) that I'm sure is new to most members, this is not an "Experts Exchange!"

That's not the reason. It was either overlooked or tecnically impossible. It has nothing to with the fact that the apps are from third parties.

Some of us want the updated apps to have the bugs worked out before we install updates, that is the reason I happily update each app separately.

And some of us want to be able to look at the individual updates to see what was updated, and then be able to happily press "Update All". I can't imagine why people who don't want to do that wouldn't want it to be an option for those who do.

There is an app called aTrackDog that looks for updates for all your apps. You can customize it to track or not track certain programs. Sometimes its a little behind bc I get updates before aTrackDog detects it but all in all its great program. You can also delete applications using this program.

As the last reply indicated, atrackdog will update all your apps. it's easy to use so I update at least a couple of times a week

I dunno. The version of aTrackDog that I have won't update any of my apps. All it will do it tell me which ones have updates available (including unreleased alpha and beta versions). It then lets me click on each one, individually, just like in the MarketPlace, and update them, each one, individually.

It's often easier and quicker to go to the MarketPlace, hit menu, downloads, and there you go, all of your apps with updates right there at the top, ready to be updated.

If you install an app, then back it up to the SD card, then uninstall it, aTackDog will update the backup on the SD card, even though the app is no longer installed. That's a good thing. But for regular backing up and keeping track of your apps, aTrackDog is deeply flawed in many respects. Those using aTrackDog would do well to read this (aTrackDog flawed and deceiving | Android Community) very carefully, particularly the last paragraph. Keep in mind that is does more than just tracking your apps on your phone. It actually uses you to keep track of how many people are running apps, and which apps they are running.
