Root Non-voodoo to voodoo....making the switch?

Thanks for all your help! Been running voodoo for a week now and love the 1200uv I'm on, but I don't know if overclocking is all that important for me. Love how smooth everything is, but I'm downloading the imnuts kernel now and I'll give it a try. Battery life is, I think, my main priority. Not a big gamer or anything

Edit: just flashed to imnuts 100, so far it seems just as fast and smooth, we'll see if battery life is better than OTB 1200uv

ill all about guarantee the battery life is better...but depending on how much you use your phone it may/may not be noticable

nitsuj are you using Set CPU with the -100? The only reason I keep using it is for keeping it in conservative mode and bringing the processor way down for when it's not being used. But it is worthwhile with the way these kernels were built?

Im a huge OTB 1200uv fan myself but as nitsuj17 said the more your phone spends at top speed the more the imnuts will edge it out for battery. Thats the trade off for the extra 20%. It makes a small difference in gameplay on intense games like Dungeon Defenders or anything from gameloft or even something like RoboDenfense when you get enough baddies on there. Otherwise OTB uv and imnuts are identical 800Mhz and lower.

Without question. Frankly if you dont spend much time at top speed they'll be close. The flip side of that is if you arent at top speed much why do you want/need an extra 20%

Without setcpu installed the native/default cpu governor is the equal of setcpu's so called conservative
i dont recomend voodoo. its a good lag fix but its to risky in my opinion it bricked 2 of my phones so i went back to oclf.
Was that with voodoo4 or voodoo5. I'd concur with you on voodoo4 but not voodoo5

I don't recommend using setcpu with it unless you plan on underclocking...i

Yeah I think you are basing this on old voodoo....mqny of us have run voodoo5 with no issues for months and no longer look at it as a affix...but just the way the phone should be...

As for it bricking phones....it doesn't...bad uninstall or disabling can lead to softbricks.....but its easily fixable....and again that's mostly old voodoo.....and even then its mostly user error/mistakes

Also oclf has been essentially rendered pointless and a placebo lagfix....it may offer some gains....but they would be minimal at best

What I do like about setcpu though is how under the info tab, it shows how much time I'm spending at each interval. Also, the temperature showing on the widget is a nice feature.

yeah it certainly has its useful features...but i dont leave the widget on unless i plan on using it to underclock when im gonna be away from the charger for a full day

I read everyone running Dj05 talking about flashing to voodoo 5, but I am running Dl09. All I have read indicates that Dj05 and Dl09 are pretty much interchangable, so can I still follow the same processes and flash to voodoo 5 as well or does Dl09 require something different? Thanks.

dj05 voodoo5 kernels are usable with dl09 :) with no issues
