Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Noob with a question here :D

If I'm running the stock kernel 2.6.32.9-g55626e1, do I need to wipe the cache/Format data before installing this ROM?
yes that will have no bearing on whether or not you need to wipe data/cache....always follow the devs instruction which will usually be in the first post of the thread of whatever you want to install and for this rom unless you were coming from an earlier version of apex then you do need to wipe

So, is Fab done with this? I havent seen him post in this thread in ages. I loaded Liberty but giving some serious thought in coming back if there is any more to look forward to.

Same there. Went down Liberty route, but came back to ApeX ( Apex was the first ROM I tried on the DX ) and not that it needs anything really, but I just wonder if he is still working on it and what his plans might be for a follow-up ROM.

well you got to give fab credit, he made a rom and updated it so much til all the bugs were gone.

this rom is virtually bug free
where as liberty is swarming with them, once liberty is updated i will test it out again

apex just runs so smooth on my phone, fab did a great job on this rom, i bet we will see another rom made by him soon, i have a feeling he is working on another one, or switching to a new phone, which i cant blame him considering he made one of the best and most used roms for the droid x ^_^

if he were to update apex and give it the customization that liberty has he will have to continue to work out more bugs that will develop with the new update.

i bet we will see him again soon, posting a new rom, or even theme, just never know.

Any updates?

I just switched back from Liberty and can't wait for Fab to put out something new for Apex.

How about a toolbox like liberty where we can customize settings (pulldown text editor, etc.)

+1 any updates?

Apex has just the right balance of blur and AOSP for me. But I really dig the liberty style tool box and easy customization of Liberty 1.0.

Can someone help? I accidently replaced my dialer shortcut with something else on the launcher. Then when I tried to put the dialer icon back, it now has a funny icon, it looks like a circle instead of the phone. How can I get the dialer icon with the green phone back?

open drawer long press dialer
bring to main screen
long press dialer that looks different
go to edit once the new windows open
select the picture and it will bring up your gallery
when you installed apex 1.3.1 you have gingerbread icons stored in your gallery select the appropriate one and there ya go
then drag the new dialer icon to your dock location

Hey guys, I'm not "through" with Apex, I've just been pretty busy the last few weeks at work and with my personal life.

I hear all the requests for the toolbox style control panel, and I'm looking into it (which means I have an Android app programming book that I haven't started reading yet :D)

It'll eventually make it into ApeX :)

As for the next version of ApeX, I hope to begin working on it again in the near future.

Sorry about being MIA for a while!

Yep, the battery problem was the deal breaker with me too. Im back on 1.3.1 and happy again. I do wish there was a chrome trimmed theme for my phone. I had the BWC theme on Liberty and really like the look.

There is one (BWC).....I ported it for ApeX 1.3.1 about 2 weeks or so ago. It doesn't have all the latest mods to help with visibility and the popups, but here it is:
