Eris to v2.x, when?

When I went to my Verizon store, I wasn't going to buy it until I got reassurance of the update. The rep told me that they were working on the update now, and that it would get it eventually. I then asked 2.0 or 2.1 and he said that it would get the best one for the phone. I love salesmen – Not. :)

Well, to be perfectly honest.. I feel like I would rather wait and get an updatr theyre proud of than get a rushed one that leaves us needing "fixes".

Also, I might add, the one feature I want most will likely never be added, which makes me sad. Now that I have this phone people always want to play with it, and I want to be able tp passlock my text messages because you know everyone looks at them :/ - unfortunately I don't see enough pushing for such a feature.

I was at my Verizon store yesterday and the salesman there told me that the Eris is already updated to 2.0 and had google maps pre-installed. He pointed to the moto droid and said they now have the same version. He did not have a phone he could turn on to show me for some reason. He also told me that the data plan has unlimited bandwidth/downloads for $30.00. Great salesman!
xD YUP My Eris has 2.5 right now actually..and an upgraded Google Nav that takes control of my car and drives it FOR me. :D

I posted before I stumbled onto this.

It is now at $49.99 for extension, still a good deal to me. Also, the number for their customer service for phones is 800-300-7066.

My problem was I have Verizon now and the plans they want you to choose fromaren't what I have. So I had to call direct. The op said they will handle the phone purchase and the specifics so my plan does not change.

My question was legitimacy. It seems it is a good deal and will be ordering mine tomorrow. An other information about it feel free to post. I am watching and waiting eagerly!!

UPDATE!!!

I called today with the link that Rob posted in the initial post.

I am a current Verizon customer with an ADDED line. The phone when I click update my phone goes to $49.99, NO BIGGIE. I called the customer service at the number I provided above and after a 10 minute wait and some confusion as to what site I was on they advised that for $49.99 I could ONLY upgrade the PRIMARY line on the account. To upgrade my ADDED line the Eris would be, this was odd to me, $149.99.
So, I guess going to the store is my only option as it is $100 there.

The girl was helpful but didn't understand that the phone is only a $100 in the store. She may not be up on her tech info.

Thanks for the offer but I hopefully saved some time for some of you, and thanks for the heads up on the offer Rob. They are legite but you need to be a NEW customer to reap some rewards!

Back on topic.....

This is my first smartphone aside from my BB, which I had for work and therefore got all the updates through the server while hooked up to USB.

Can an upgrade from 1.5 to 2.x happen OTA?
I'd like to think it'd be passed out OTA. But me? I'll most likely do it manually if I don't get the notification a couple days after it's announced.. just like I did with the last update.
I think it's crap that it's only pushed to a few people per day..
