2.2 Only

Install the vending.apk with adb, or the BM.zip with xRecovery. The green/blue streak you see in the image is my wallpaper as the apps lists are transparent so you will see your wallpaper after installing, and might not look too good on a light background.

Can you be more specific on how to install with Xrecovery? I.e. does it have to be in a particular folder on your SD? What option do you choose in the xrecovery menu?

I've only ever used xrecovery once, and that was to flash the Eminence ROM...which I imagine is a different procedure than this.

Thanks

I assume it's this way (which didn't work or me for some reason)....

Put it in any part of the SD Card that you like
In xRecover go to 'Install custom zip' -> choose custrom zip from sd card
Then locate bm.zip and load it

simple as that

but like I said, it didn't work for me

maybe this is because I installed the latest version of android market manually after installing Eminence

Really want this market but it wont work :(

I like the name, although I was hoping for something a bit more nefarious. :)

I know something you might be interested in. Applanet.

It allows you to download paid apps for free!

Works as well. But there has been some problems with their servers lately so some people cannot access. But give it a try anyway.

Which 2.2 ROM are you using?

I tried one last night, It would load, but it kept flashing back to the home screen, and there was no network reception, etc, so I couldn't do anything
FreeX10

it always does that when you load it up for the first time you need to use adb shell and type in "killall servicemanager"

if you dont have adb shell then you can use terminal emulator, this is extremely tricky as you have to put terminal emulator on your sdcard then attempt to access it while your screen keeps refreshing. it does work but it took me about 100 attempts to get the file open and type in it due to the constant refresh.

but i found having adb prettty much a neccesity when installing custom roms
[HOW-TO] ADB for Dummies(How-To Learner's Guide) - xda-developers

if you use tripnravers rom he has a dev tools app preinstalled where you can open it and kill server which does exactly the same thing (extremely handy for this situation) but i dont think his rom is as refined as z's

infact if you want i can upload a backup which should be a straight install, i'd just run a fresh install with the theme i'm using then back it up so you'd just need to enter in all your own settings.
i've realised my internet (3G) doesnt work but that just means i need to input the settings, i dont think its working automatically

ok, i'm not even gonna try explain it lol there are plenty guides to figure it out and once you use it once its easy to do a second time.
you just need to install all the dev tools to your computer and i use command prompt to run it.
just let me know if you want a back up file, its no problem to do although not sure if they will run on another handset, i assume they will as i think thats basically how all the themes are too

ye you're right, they can run on another device, and it is how most of the themes are

install one the themes, i am using sempiternals and i've got a quadrant score of around 1550 (best i've hit lol)
i'm really looking forward to the camera fix too because i'd have no need to go back to 2.1 again.
also with the dual-touch update looking likely to be out soon, tomorrow in japan it seems, hopefully we can have the drivers installed into the custom roms aswell

oh to add, if you install the hotfix 4a after you install a theme you should be getting quadrant of around 1500
i spent a lot of time looking through the thread and eventually asked what i was doing wrong to be getting a score in the 800's when people were getting close to double that
