I live in Sweden and I've heard different stories about when it will be released here. On GSM arena it says may 2011.

A guy on a swedish android forum told me that the swedish huawei support told him that it will be released here in 1-2 month.

I have called the huawei support myself and ended up talking to the international support. The guy over there told me that it will be released around this summer.

I'm really interested in this one but it's quite frustrating not to know when it will be released :p

There are several differences. It's a different design for one thing (bigger screen) and it has the latest flashplayer. I'm not sure what all the differences are but it appears to have more horsepower. I'm going to wait for the X6.

(We should be getting paid by Cricket and Huawei! :p )

Well, I am getting paid by Cricket and am shocked that no one told me we were going to be offering this phone! We were told far in advance that we would be carrying the Curve, Zio, and Ascend. I guess so we would be prepared to add more EVDO backhauls. I need to do some investigating to confirm we're getting this X6. If so, I am so getting one!

Hi Samurai! I know just what you mean. During the CES there was a release by Cricket's VP of devices that they would be carrying the X5 and the X6, but it appears now that this might have been wishful hoping on his part.

(Cricket is a US provider who is carrying the Huawei Ascend.)

Now I have learned it is a GSM phone. I know this doesn't help you, but Cricket is CMDA so now I don't know when it will be coming to the US but when it does come it will be offered by T-Mobile here.

This phone has received a huge response and is already in huge demand. Yesterday I compared it to the Samsung Fascinate and was shocked at how well it stacked up.

Hope it will be coming your way soon. If you hear anything let us know! :)

Hi Junior! During the CES your VP of Devices, Mr. Stoiber, was interviewed and indicated you are going to be getting the IDEOS X5 for sure and he went on to discuss when your company gets the X6. I will see if I can find the link to the interview.

Unless, Huawei plans to offer the X6 in CMDA and GSM both (as the iphone now does) I don't see Cricket getting it. It was just FCC approved and T-Mobile is going to be carrying it.

Yeah...it would be nice if they kept you guys/gals better informed! LOL

I want the X6 too....but I may have to settle for the X5.

Great company you work for !!!! I love Cricket, even with it's lousy customer service!!! But I know they try!!! (hope you aren't in cust svc...forgive me if you are. :) )

LOL. No I'm not in CS or sales. I am in network operations. I hear on occasion that our customer service needs work in areas You can pm me your experiences detailing what you didn't like and I will send that up the chain! ;) We love hearing feedback. Regarding the X6 though; Matt Stoiber's word is usually golden when it comes to what we will be offering, so I'm looking forward to the X6. The X5 just isn't as attractive to me. But alas, I will take what I get as my handset/service is provided.

I feel the very same way, Junior! The X6 has me really excited! :D

You serious? Have a source link?

This will be interesting if it's true because Huawei's self-branded phones are practically running vanilla androids and no bloatware, which makes it perfect as a developer phone.

That was just a 'tongue in cheek' remark I made because the X6 has some very nice specs. I'm sure if I had it I would want to root it so that I could customize to my heart's delight! :)

I agree! It's a beautiful new phone and I'm anxious for it to be released here in the US.

Cricket is going to be one of the Carriers for this phone, as was announced by Matt Stoiber, V. President and General Manager of Devices, just a couple of days ago in Vegas.

I'm sure it will be reasonably priced compared to the other androids offered by the 'contract' carriers.

I'm hoping a Moderator will see this and create a Huawei IDEOS X5 topic in the Phones forum. :)

You mentioned Cricket announcing they were getting this phone at CES, but I can't find anything mentioned other than the X5...have a source for that? Thanks.

Thanks for that info...I saw that article...but to me it doesn't say Cricket is getting the X6, it just says their guy liked it more. But...we shall see...thanks again.

Yeah...I agree! I think a lot of it is wishful thinking on my part, in retropect. But at the time I did interpret it to mean that Stoiber thought they would be getting the X6.

I'm still hoping they do!

You might get your wish...a survey just went around to some Virgin Mobile customers asking what to name VM's next phone, and the phone's description matches the X6 exactly, except for CDMA, which is no biggie to switch for Huawei.

You might be interested in a long unboxing video for the Thai version of the phone, known as the WellcoM A99

That was a very LONG 20 minutes but it was worth it! Thanks!

Interesting because this phone looks exactly like the U9000 or IDEOS X6.

And it really makes me wonder if it is a knock-off by Motorola who used to have a relationship with Huawei and Huawei made all their phones for them (with the Motorola brand of course) and now they have split and Huawei is suing them for Intellectual Property theft.

Hmmmmmmmmmm......makes one ponder indeed!

Just got this phone the other day. It is know here in the Philippines as Magnum HD A400 by Cherry Mobile.

It is also known in other countries as:

CSL Spice M410 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OljUHqNau4c

ViewSonic ViewPad4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx6e3nyrvDo

WellcoM A99 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3lRFcjTYXU

and Huawei IDEOS X6.

Got it for around $420 open line (No Contract). Comes with a free 4GB Micro SD, a Bluetooth headset and best of all..... an Android doll (LOL). Loving the phone so far though some little issues:

* ramdom restarts.
* The lower part of the unit gets hot when charging (while some users say that they experience it when playing 3D games). This causes the soft keys under the screen to be unresponsive, specifically the back and search buttons.
* GPS takes some time before it can lock with the satellites (compared to my Galaxy Spica)

The issues I mentioned does not happen frequently so its still a good smartphone for me.

Thanks!! That does appear to be the X6 under different brand names. Appreciate your reviews and youtube links. :)

It is looking like here in the U.S. the X6 is headed to T-Mobile. Sad news for those of us who currently are using phones like the Huawei Ascend and looking to upgrade to another Huawei phone.

;)

Does anybody know if these devices will be 4G compatible? I imagine they would since Cricket needs devices that are 4G when for when their 4G LTE network comes out.

I'm almost positive the X6 will be 4G capable. It would have to be for T-Mobile to put it in the lineup as it would have to compete with phones like the Samsung Galaxy S that are already 4G capable and T-Mobile is huge on 4G.
