Heart Rate Monitor app?

I've found some garmin heart rate monitors that will work with specialized iPhone apps after syncing via bluetooth.

Are there any for the android? I'm suspecting that a bluetooth heart rate monitor is not proprietary so I could pick one up - but I need the app to use on my phone.

Much thanks.

I would like to have a uni-gadget instead of a mp3 player, a phone, a heart rate monitor, a gps, etc.

The Droid is getting there. I use it for all of the above - except a heart rate monitor. I'd like to place it on the treadmill and/or take it with me while running and have it track my heart rate, calories, etc.

I found that app as well but if you read the description it merely counts your finger taps as you tap to your pulse.

What I'm looking for is on that reads the bluetooth signal from a heart rate monitor (wrapped around your chest) and then shows/stores/calculates that information during exercise (e.g. calories burned, time, max/min, in target zone, etc.)

Yes you would need a heart rate sensor. ...not a monitor. What we are looking for is a sensor which links via Bluetooth and then is tracked along with the GPS information. Giving us one device to carry when running/biking etc. With a apparently like cardio trainer which tells your pace etc...with music playing it could then tell your heart rate periodically. Anyway the advertising is Droid does....so.....Droid do heart rate monitoring.

Right I'm sorry: sensor. Well, my sensor has a display that I can look at. And it has to be on me to read my heart rate as it is.

And yes, Droid does. Eris Doesn't.

Edit: to be fair, Eris does, too. Just slower and for less duration. But gosh she looks pretty doing it.
You hit me there. :p The ERIS does indeed do... SENSE UI

Anyway, what I suggest is NOT using your phone. Keep it clean, etc. Just pick one up online. Get the sensor for your chest, and a watch that gives you your heart rate.

Sorry for the late reply (holidays)...

As for the poster above and previous ones - normally a heart rate monitor for exercise has a chest band and a watch to monitor/store data. Some treadmills pick up the signal from the chest band as well and do the same thing as the watch.

I have a watch and a heart rate monitor. However, my goal is to have one gadget for everything. The Eris is close to that. The iPhone, it seems, is closer. I abhor all things Macintosh so I'm going Eris. Simply put, I want an app that picks up a bluetooth signal from a heart rate monitor chest band and calculates my heart beats along with user defined data like age, sex, etc. It can track that data, display it in charts, show calories burned, or as another poster suggested, show distance run as well by using GPS from starting point and finishing point.

So, developers out there - I would purchase this app - if you write it.

Such language! And yes...I am calling you a troll; but, that would make me Billy Goat Gruff since I keep trying to cross this bridge. Ughh. I guess there are no prerequisites to owning a "smart"phone.

My God I hope you are not really pregnant, because smoking marijuana when pregnant can lead to children like...well like you.

Seriously you MUST be high, I can't understand a thing you are saying...

Finally, YOU are the one that didn't GET the joke
