just took a look at the pic with the phone, remote, and soda, and it looks damn real to me, i use photoshop A LOT, I know what can be done with it, if someone shopped it they have mad crazy good skillz.

it gets my stamp of authenticity.

Thanks man....and as you know I took the pic within a couple minutes of being asked. Just here to help out man.

3rd...whats your take on the ringer volume..I find mine isnt nearly loud enough..my Mytouch is so much louder.

sent you a PM

I think it's pretty much average. I never usually have any of my ringers on to be honest due to meetings, but this one seems to be about the same as my iphone and hero. No complaints out of me there.

Did you download Layars? I noticed that each time I try to open it up, it gives me a Force Close window. Doesn't get to the opening landing page at all. Any luck with you?

TRY changing your ringer. I'm using the "Flutey Phone" ring tone. That ones pretty light. "Bell Phone" is pretty loud.

I've seen Caddyman post a few photoshop pics on this forum and is very good at it , I trust his word So I think your photo is proof enough for me personally {Not Officially of AF}

Thanks for sharing info on the N1 & feeding out Android addiction to it :D

Now to ask some questions:

Whats the camera like in the dark? Is their anything spectacular that really jumps out to you {Besides the animated backgrounds)?

Hello Mr.geer.. may i call you 3rd?

Anyways, i've seen videos and i've seen pictures; In your opinion, is the phone appealing to the eyes?

If someone were to walk past it and if have no idea that it was a N1, would they go "wow thats a sexy phone"?

There are many forums about the hardware and software features(which of course i know is very important) and because i usually wont purchase a phone without seeing it in person, just wondering what your take is.

The look of the phone is important to me also.

Could you also describe how it feels when holding the phone in your hand. Is it sturdy? Will it snap if you've had to much HGH in a single day?

thanks for your time and posting info about this phone

sincerely,

I haven't actually used it in the dark yet to be honest. I've used it in poorly lit areas and it's ok. The flash is pretty long...and the light is pretty bright so it doesn't give the best photos...But hey....iphones can't shoot a damn thing in the dark.

We have heard all the good things about it. We even solved the video recording mystery. Let's find out what the bad things are. What are the bad things you discovered so far, what annoys you about the phone.

Do you mind running some benchmarks on it?

I've been running it against my iphone 3G, and it's been beating it out fair and square. It's also not running on 3G which should tell you something.

About to head out the house so I can't do much now. I'll be able to finally use it out and about in the real world, so we'll see how it goes and I'll report back.

When I saw pics online I thought they did a weak job of the phone. When I got it in my hands it was anothe story. It's definitely appealing to the eye, and pretty sexy. I still must admit though, it does have a Droid Eris kind of look. Although it's longer, and as you already know a tiny bit slimmer then the iphone. NOT THAT much slimmer though.

Same weight as the iphone. Definitely feels better then the iphone in your hands. It has a rubbery kind of feel on the back of it. The phone fits really really nicely in your hands.

I can't say enough about the screen....the images including pictures I downloaded to the phone look so so so so sharp. It's amazing! The screen makes the phone.

First of all, congrats on the early grab. Enjoy your moment 15 minutes of fame, and thanks for any info you give us!

My question: Moto Droid has had issues with the time it takes to process snapped pics. I've heard reports of up to 15 seconds per pic. Can you give us an Idea of how fast picture-taking takes place on the N1?

Example: Take a pic on it's highest resolution and time how long it is before you're able to take a second pic.

Also, can you verify the phone is running Android2.1?

Thanks in advance.

Since we have 2 users here, can you guys comment on call quality? Does that second, noise canceling mic make a difference?

I know that google has pushed a couple OTA updates so far. 3rd geer, have you been prompted for updates yet?

And another request. there have been 2 games in the market that highlight open GL performance. They weren't really games, more like demos that showed what the old G1 was capable of. These demos also served as benchmarks for 30 seconds and displayed the frame rate. The G1 was barely cutting it, especially with sound enabled. Do you mind downloading these free demos and post the average frame rate and your impressions?

Posting this from my N1 in the wild now and working well on edge.

Tested the photo snap as you asked and after pressing to take the pic, it took about 2 seconds to focus then take the pic and after it took the pic about 1.5 seconds before I cousin snap again.

Fast!

Funny you talk about the updates. As soon as I turned on the phone it got prompted for a "Holiday Update Part 2". Dont know what it WA or what it did.

Which demos?

Yes running 2.1.

Another annoying thing about that phone. Pointing back to edit previously typed tejxt is a pain.

Thanks! Curious as to whether the difference in speed is due to an updated OS or the faster hardware.

One more easy question: What size SD card does the phone ship with or do you have to buy this separately?

I have to go now and I don't have access to the market since I'm using a top secret winmo 5.0 phone. In the games tab on the market, try searching for open GL, it might bring up both demos. Sorry that I can't provide the actual demo names, again I can't get to market.

But running these demos will be the most telling info about the hardware performance of the Nexus one!

If the photo taking is like the video taking then selecting the size/resolution will also determine the storage location and that will effect speed. If all pictures go to internal storage then it's no big deal but if some go to the SD card then the performance of that card will matter. One would have to know what the performance specs are of the 4GB SD card shipped with the phone and atleast match that to get the same performance as mentioned if the pics are going to SD.
