I got a T-mobile pulse about a month ago and have it rooted and flashed to the custom ROM based on the Generic U8230 ROM available from Modaco. So far I'm really liking it, I come from a mostly WM background but I've also got an original 16G iPhone. Apart from a few minor niggles (MMS not working for me and no voice dialing that can run properly), the pulse is a really great phone and a very good introduction to Android.
