Android Phone 7 Theme

Because android is about customization. If you don't like people changing their phones, maybe you need to go back to windows or apple.

i have never had apple or windows, so take your erage elsewhere kiddo. if you want a windows based phone, go buy one. dont buy an android and make it windows rofl. thats like going too Compton saying i hate black people.

why would you try too make a linux operated phone, into windows?

Because then everyone's phone would just look like this boring thing:

Basically, I got tired of reading post after post after post with endless screenshots of the same boring icons and widgets... I was tired of repetitive posts claiming "something new" with nothing but varying wallpapers... and I'm ridiculously tired of seeing people who root (or unroot) their phones just to make useless, minuscule changes (if at all).

This theme isn't about turning an Android device into a Windows device. I wouldn't even hear of such a thing since Windows is not exactly an inspiration for anything creative. This theme is about a customization option inspired by a unique interface. When you create your own icons, you make your device even more personal to you. You're not stuck using the same cartoon-like icons that everyone else is using or constantly changing wallpapers in an effort to "customize" your layout.

that not only disgusts me, but it doesnt make sense. may god have mercy on your soul

It appears, sir, that you have completely missed the point of owning an Android. Open source also means being open minded. I find it hard to believe that anyone would be set against customizing such a groundbreaking system.

As much as we honor your opinion-- this thread is for those who appreciate and enjoy this theme. With all due respect, could you please keep your negativity to a minimum.

Thank you.

Cheers. Here's a link to my photobucket with the images. I tried to post them directly here, but they came out too big!

Pictures by acuk_87 - Photobucket

Well, I can't quite figure out where the disconnect was on this one. All of your images are the correct proportion, so I just quickly resized them to the correct resolution:

For future images, though, just make sure that you are using the crop tool to resize the images and setting the specific pixel dimensions and resolution in the options box:

Hope this helps!

PS: I like your icon images. Good work!

Brilliant!! Thanks alot for your time and help!

I think i know where i went wrong..now i know, its obvious and i cant believe i missed it! Basically when i set the crop size, i left it as CM, so i was making 470cm x 125cm instead of 470px x 125px!!!
Boy do i feel stupid now

Anyways, i appreciated your help and once i get it all onto my phone and sorted i'll post some pics.

PS: I like your icon images. Good work!
Cheers!:D

Anyone out there have trouble with missing DVR Icons?

All of a sudden this morning when waking up my samsung fascinate some but not all of my DVR icon are missing from my homepage. In place are the temporary icons that you see before assigning an icon image with a big ? mark symbol.

The really weird thing is that the temp icons still remember my shortcut so if I remember what icon was where I can still click on it to go to the app or whatever the shortcut was pointing to. Anybody else?

are the image icons still on your phone, or did you move them?

I moved all my widget image files so they wouldn't show up in my gallery and I had to replace them after a reboot because desktop visualizer cleared its cache

Aha! That must have been it. I was thinking "no I didn't move them" but then thinking back on it I did do some housekeeping on my folders and separated out the icons into different folders by those that I use and those that I like but haven't used.

This also would explain why some of the icons where still showing up, those are the ones I added after my housekeeping!

Good to know for the future and for everyone else!

Thanks!

TwinsMomVA,

Sorry, I never got around to making these images for different resolutions. You are correct that they are for a 320x480 resolution (Eris, etc.).

If you would like to give it a go, here are links to my Dropbox with the original images:

Original Images 50's - General

Original Images 50's - Pinup Girls

Hope this helps!

I'm ready to dive in on making these icons, was wondering what font you used for the retro look?

Thanks!

I just finished a pin-up/fifties advert theme. This takes a looong time to do completely from scratch, especially when you're a photoshop neophyte...I hope everybody is showing paulmz the gratitude he deserves.

Just in case no one knows, if you put a "nomedia" file in the folder that the images are in, they won't show up in gallery. I use it for my Beautiful Widgets skin png's all the time.

Here's the "nomedia" file if anyone wants it. Just put it in any images folder you don't want gallery to find.

Thanks! I certainly do hope that everyone appreciates all of the work that we have put into this theme.

Your icons look awesome! Usually people are asking me this... but what font did you use?

If you mean the "5 Icon rows in homescreen" setting under "Advanced Settings"- that is the incorrect setting.

Make sure you are using the: [Menu]-> [Preferences]-> [Homescreen Settings]-> [Number of rows]-> [5].

If you're still having problems, post a screenshot so we can take a look at it.

Hope this helps!

Another FYI to those who are using my reskinned blue tile widgets:

I got tired of the Market telling me to update the SMS Unread Count to the new version that doesn't work with this theme, so I reskinned the SMS Unread Count Classic widget with the same icons as the original one I used.

(I sent an email to the developer of this app when the update first came out asking if he could either change how the new version shrinks the background png's or add the ability to change the Gmail link to the Classic version... I have yet to receive a reply.)

Feel free to replace it if it's bugging you, too.

I added it to the widget pack: Android7 Widgets.

haha. I googled "fifties font" and this site came up first. I'm using the one called 'fontdinerdotcom sparkly' and there's a bunch more that I was looking at as well. I kinda like the one called 'rocket script' now, but there's no way I'm making all these widgets again anytime soon

How did u creat this lockscreen? And can it be done on a HTC desire HD?

you need beautiful widgets for the clock/weather and widgetlocker for the sliders. both are paid apps. to get the one-sided sliders you need to long-press to place the custom slider, then when you're setting up the slider, choose 'no action' for the left (or right) and center buttons.
