MyBackup Root released for FREE on the Android Market

Also, note that there are append options in the Menu->Options of the application. This will restore the items in the backup without deleting the current ones on the phone first.
So, if you have new SMS messages that you dont want to lose, but you want o restore your old SMSes in the backup, you can turn on Append SMS and restore. Keeping the old ones too!

This is great. Seems to easily do everything I do in Titanium, except freezing apps.

I have a couple of questions about saving/restoring system data.

Titanium has a weakness (at least on my Droid X) that if you restore system data, the sync icon comes on and never goes away. So, I just restor non-system apps and data and then re-do my system settings. I think BT and Wifi settings can be restored individually, but you do have to be careful about what system data to restore.

Does MyBackup Root have any issue with restoring all system data like that? The biggest annoyance with not restoring system data in Titanium is rebuilding my home screens. That's a big PITA. Does MyBackup Root restore all of my home screen shortcuts and widgets without any issue? Across ROMs? Across Android versions (minor updates like the Droid X 2.2.1 and more major updates from 2.1 to 2.2)?

If it does that well, I think it's huge. I recently had to factory reset my Droid X and my Samsung Vibrant. Even with Titanium restoring all apps and app data, it took a bit of time to restore all of my other settings. It takes a while to remember all of the system settings that I had changed. Things like contact ringtones I had to re-do.

Will MyBackup Root restore all of that without causing problems?

Very nice of you to release this free. Hopefully, it remains free with the current features, which appear to suffice for me, and hopefully you have enough pro features that other people want so you can make some money.

I like My Backup Root and only have problems here and there. It is supposed to be able to restore sys settings even between ROMs w/o a hitch, but I doubt they can always account for every scenario. GirLuvsDroid wrote up a great How-To for restoring w/ TiBu here to avoid system restore problems.

I use Launcher Pro which has a built in backup for home screens minus widget saving (but a cpl widgets is no biggie), so maybe consider that option for your home screens.

Hope this gets you closer ;)

Thanks for the support. I have had MyBackup Pro for the past month and it is working fine on my Orange San Francisco.
Couple of queries though, I notice that my version is V2.6.0 = how do I get an update to v2.6.2?
Also, just had a look at my scheduled backups and I have 13 or 14 listed from today backwards. This will presumably fill up my sd card eventually, what have I done wrong. I don't want so many. Can I select the number of scheduled backups or do I have to go into manage and delete some of them from time to time?
Also, if I do a manual backup (which I normally do after I have installed/removed something, I assume this is incremental ie it replaces the existing one(with the same name of course)?
Sorry if my questions are a bit stupid but having read this thread it has made me curiouser and curiouser.............................

Hi,

-You can update either from the Android Market, or download it from our website RerWare, LLC: Android Backup and BlackBerry Backup - MyBackup Pro
-There is a settings to keep how many backups during the schedule screens.
-Manual backups will be complete backups, replacing a current one with the same name if it exists.

Done update via website - Couldn't update via the market (without paying again!!) and it isn't listed as one of "my apps" in the Market but I have selected "Update automatically" so hopefully I will keep up-to-date in the future.

Regarding schedule, I have set my schedule to retain 5 schedules (daily at 1205) but at the moment there are 14 or 15 listed (17th - 31st incl). I deleted previous ones "manually". Seems the selection of numbers to keep isn't working (for me).

Otherwise, all is good and an excellent app.

Done that.
Will see if it "reduces" the 14 schedules listed to the 5 I have selected or will it start counting from the next schedule? We shall see.
Have set up a new "Schedule" so will see tomorrow when it runs.Thanks.
Yep, it's tomorrow now and all is working fine.
The "schedule" worked fine and it is just listing the 5 I have selected.
Manual backups also working fine so thanks for everyone's help with this.
Excellent, efficient and speedy app.

I just wanted to caution MybackupPro users who may be new to rooting. I probably did something wrong, but I recently updated my EVO root ROM to Supersonic 3.70.651.1 and updated Amon_RA to the latest I could find 2.2.1 I think. Then I tried to restore from MybackupPro. I believe that something in the backed up files (backed up while rooted) have flags that conflict with Market. I reflashed and reloaded several times. Each time I restored from MybackupPro, most of the restored apps went into forced close and gave errors about the Market not being available. I then reflashed and used the App List Backup to restore my app list from the Market. I've had no issues in several days. But I lost all the data that was in the apps that I had backed up with MybackupPro.
I am still using it to backup my apps, because I believe it will work fine as long as I don't change ROMS and try to restore apps backed up on one version and then restored to a newer version.

Does this app selectively break and/or restore app links to the market? Just curious, since that is the 1 and only reason that I ended up purchasing titanium backup.

Forgive my naivete...but I have a QUESTION:

What is the reason one would want to "break" an app link to the market?? I was just wondering the need/reason/purpose/benefit for this option...

THANKS!!
