Your most used/favorite browser?

Until I can find a way to change the user agent in the stock browser, I'll keep using Dolphin HD. That's really the only problem I had with the stock browser -- too many websites out there would automatically redirect me to the typically limiting mobile version of their websites. Anyone know of a way to change the user agent of the stock browser?

Now I'll be able to more directly compare the stock browser to Dolphin HD and see if Dolphin HD is worth the extra fluff.

The problem with the stock browser is that it doesn't "remember" the user agent you set. Every time you open up the stock browser from new, you have to do the about:debug thing. Then, when you go to UAString, you'll see that it's already set to what you wanted previously. Then, you just have to back out, and the setting will take effect. Quite annoying.

I just got Firefox, and I love it. The 'phony' add-on allows you to spoof user agents, and it will remember your setting.

The tabs are much easier to access than the stock. I like the concept of using add-ons to customize the functionality of the browser. And I like the download manager. It tracks what files you've downloaded, and you can open/delete the files with ease.

And most importantly, Firefox conforms the best to CSS standards and renders web sites more correctly than most others.

Overall, it behaves very similarly to the desktop version. It has some kinks to work out. It did FC on me a few times. But the current advantages over the stock browser has already sold me on it.

Been using Dolphin HD, but havent compared it to any others. Only reason I use it over stock is its ability to limit flash, java, etc. Some of the sites I frequent (fitday.com) have ads that load that seriously slow down the loading of the page. It loads MUCH quicker on Dolphin HD than on stock.

Looking into Miren right now...trying to find a way to import my bookmarks from Dolphin.

Thanks for pointing that out -- I'm sure that's something that would've driven me bonkers when I finally discovered it was going on. I probably would've blamed it on my poor ROM or something else, because...seriously...why would Google have it so it resets each time I open the browser? Sheesh.

Alright, alright...I'll try the mouthwash browser. Although it's going to have to be really good to overcome my appreciation for Dolphin HD's gesture feature. But I guess it's all in what you get used to.

Okay, xScope isn't really the best solution for me. I've tried tweaking the default display zoom, but it just still doesn't handle it as slick as Dolphin HD does, especially when auto-rotating from landscape to portrait. I was surprised how "busy" the xScope interface was when everyone has been saying it's less than Dolphin. They're basically the same (except Dolphin's looks prettier and slicker) and both have the ability to easily go full-screen with just two taps. I like the way Dolphin HD handles embedded video and photos, too, especially when zooming. At least for me, Dolphin HD seems to be loading pages faster. I'm using the free version of both, so I'm not sure if the paid version of xScope would be faster (but I don't feel the need to pay for speed that I'm getting for free with another app). I do like the way xScope handles tabs/windows better, but it doesn't seem to handle pop-ups (unwanted or not) as well as Dolphin HD.

Another thing I discovered is that (at least for me) the user agent setting in the stock browser does NOT seem to reset as reported earlier, even after rebooting, clearing cache/history, etc. Could that be the ROM I'm using (Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS5)?

So I think I'll just stick with Dolphin HD for my fancy browser (I really like the gesture feature, too), and use the stock browser for my minimalist browser. I'll, of course, re-visit this decision from time to time.

Which would u recommend for the EVO ...Dolphin,Opera or stock???

I've been using Dolphin lately and have been quite happy with it. It's fairly fast and easy to use.

Xscope 5 or 6? Kick free version of 6 to the curb and go to xscope's full free v5 from their website. It's MUCH better than v6 IMO. It does more and it's not as overwhelming.

thx guys, just tried latest dolphin, and bought it. Liking the latest stuff, battery life and so on. Had XScope since it was first made available, and still enjoy it, but now leaning a bit towards Dolphin for some of the extras and things.

One browser for me and that's the stock browser. I love not seeing the unfinished loading page, that usually occur on some of the other browsers.

Okay, I do like xScope v5 better than v6 (and not just because v5 is free), but it still doesn't autozoom/reformat well. I'll just stick with Dolphin HD and that's final......

I think I agree....I liked the dolphin browser with the extra features and customizable options, but the stock is the one that I have had the least amount of difficulty with ie: crashing, etc.

I've been running Dolphin HD for a while and like it. I decided to see what else was out there, and have now played around with XScope (free) and Mirren a bit. I'm going to hang onto Mirren for a while, but Dolphin is nearly as fast, and I really like the LastPass integration. I do like Mirren though, so I'm going back and forth between that and DHD.
