Help Face down silencer?

On HTC's website, the Wildfire phone is said to be all quiet when you turn it upside down. So when I got mine, I tried putting it upside down and calling it from another phone. It didn't work. I found no settings on the phone and nothing in the manual.
Anyone facing the same problem?

I think the way it's meant to work is that the ringer goes off initially when a call comes in but then silences if you flip the phone face down (I think it sends the call to voicemail at this point too) - i.e. you've decided not to take the call. I don't think placing the phone face down is meant to be an alternative to putting it in silent mode.

Advanced Bubble Level, available in Market, has an accelerometer calibration feature. Some accelerometers are off just enough to not allow function of things in the device such as turning over to silence rings, etc.

menu, settings, sound settings, quiet ring on pickup.
it doesn't send to voicemail just shuts off ringer when phone is moved
